Magic Hat Art Hop Ale 2016 features blood orange & sage

Magic Hat Art Hop Ale 2016

Magic Hat Art Hop Ale 2016 is coming this summer. The beer is a collaboration; an intersection of art and brewing.

The brewery teamed up with the non-profit SEABA (South End Arts and Business), which promotes local artists as well as businesses. The Labels for Libations contest motivated Vermont artists to submit works for the can.

The winning label was crated by Zelde Grimm.

Magic Hat Art Hop Ale 2016 is an imperial blonde ale, brewed with blood orange, orange peel, and sage.

A bready malt body creates a solid canvas for blood orange, while sage provides the balancing juxtaposition of spice to the citrus notes from Simcoe, Amarillo and Cascade hops.

Magic Hat Art Hop Ale 2016 is available all summer in 16 ounce cans and draft.

Style: Blonde Ale (w/ Blood Orange, Orange, and Sage.)
Availability: 16oz Cans, Draft. Summer seasonal.
Debut: June, 2016

Sierra Nevada introduces Ovila Mix Packs

Sierra Nevada Ovila Mix Packs

The Sierra Nevada monastic collaborative series, “Ovila” will soon have a mixed pack for it’s fans this month.

A collaboration with California based Abbey of New Clairvaux, Ovila Abbey Ales is a modern take on Belgian-style abbey ales. When possible, the beers feature ingredients grown and harvests on the monks’ 600 acre working farm.

Instead of releasing a bottle one at a time throughout 2016, the brewery is releasing all three in a mixed pack. Each box features three different 750 milliliter bottles of Ovila.  The styles include:

  • Ovila Quad with Cherries
  • Ovila Brown with Mandarin & Cocoa
  • Ovila Saison with Sage

The Sierra Nevada Ovila Mixed Pack is available across the United States while supplies last.

Deschutes EHOP, a Collaboration with Harpoon

Deschutes EHOP

Deschutes EHOP, a new collaboration with Harpoon Brewing, debuts in October.

Both brewery’s are employee owned, and celebrate that aspect of their business. Deschutes EHOP is an amber ale, brewed with sage and thyme, and employee-grown hops.

“It has been quite a year for us at Harpoon as we’ve transitioned to employee ownership,” says Harpoon CEO and co-founder Dan Kenary. “It’s a complicated process and we couldn’t have done it without the support that we received from Deschutes and other craft brewers who had chosen this path before us. We’re extremely proud to be employee-owned – being an independent brewer is something we value deeply and believe it’s at the core of what makes the craft beer industry so great for both brewers and beer lovers. This beer is a high-five to our fellow independent American craft breweries and their employee-owners.”

Deschutes EHOP will debut at the Great American Beer Festival at an invite only party. The general public will see this beer in October on draft and 22 ounce bottles.

Style: Amber Ale (w/ Sage, Thyme)
Availability: 22oz Bottles, Draft.

Jester King Autumnal Dichotomous Arrives Friday [PICS]

Jester King Autumnal Dichotomous is ready for release. The seasonal driven saison is brewed during the mentioned series, and oak aged until the brewery feels it is ready.

Autumnal Dichotomous (fall saison) is brewed with butternut squash and acorn squash, long pepper, and sage. Head brewer Garrett Crowell smoked the squash and peppers over oak staves.

“I’m very inspired by nostalgia, and the smell of burning leaf piles is perhaps my most nostalgic memory of fall. The subtle smoke and spice character in the beer reminds me of those dim-lit autumn afternoons, running through the neighborhood and the smell in the air.”

Jester King Autumnal Dichotomous was brewed in October, 2014, oak aged with local wild biota, and re-fermented long term in bottles and kegs. The beer will be available in 750ml bottles, starting on January 9th. Other seasonal based offerings include Jester King Estival Dichotomous, and HIbernal Dichotomous.

Style: American Wild Ale (w/ Squash, Long Peppers, Sage. Oak Aged)
Availability: 750ml bottles. 3,500 produced. $12.
Release: 1/9/15

4.9% ABV, 19 IBUS
