Carolina Bauernhaus Raspberry Petite Sour is the brewery’s 2nd bottle

Carolina Bauernhaus Raspberry Petite Sour is officially the Anderson, South Carolina brewery’s second bottle, following hot on the heels of June Princess.

The base beer in Carolina Bauernhaus Raspberry Petite Sour is the Source Series golden sour ale, blended with a massive amount of red raspberries. The final beer was aged in bourbon barrels for 4 months. The resulting beer is wall to wall raspberries, sour tartness, and bourbon oak.

This unique regional ale draws its acidity from a strain of lactobacillus isolated by SouthYeast labs from opuntia fruit in La France, SC and a blend locally captured native yeasts.

Carolina Bauernhaus Raspberry Petite Sour is available starting today at the brewery in Anderson.

Style: American Sour/Wild Ale (w/ Raspberries. Barrel Aged. Bourbon.)
Availability: 750ml Bottles, Draft. Brewery only.
Debut: 7/19/16

4.5% ABV

Short’s Power of Love. Just add Huey Lewis

Short's Power of Love

Short’s Power of Love is a new shandy that is perfect for summer as well as Back to the Future fans.

Because it’s Short’s Brewing, Power of Love is not just any shandy. The base beer is a wheat beer, brewed with raspberries and rosemary. It is then blended with Williamsburg, Michigan’s Northwoods Soda & Syrup Co.’s Gourmet Lemonade. The resulting beer tastes a bit like a grapefruit.

Very sweet lemon flavors give way to a shock of tart raspberry before turning sharply dry, as if eating a piece of grapefruit.

Short’s Power of Love is available starting July 13th in 12 ounce bottles and draft.

Style: Shandy (w/ Raspberries, Rosemary)
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft. Seasonal.
Debut: 7/13/16

3.1% ABV, 20 IBUs

New Holland Dragon’s Milk Reserve Raspberry Lemon, for summer

New Holland Raspberry Lemon Dragon's Milk

New Holland Dragon’s Milk Reserve Raspberry Lemon is a new spin on the brewery’s year-round barrel-aged stout.

If you are a bourbon barrel stout fan, you better at least know this base beer. One of the best known beers in New Holland’s lineup is Dragon’s Milk, an imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels from their own distillery.

A little while back, the brewery started releasing some fun variants on the barreled favorite. This summer is New Holland Dragon’s Milk Reserve Raspberry Lemon. How do you make a strong dark beer a little more summery? Michigan raspberries and lemon zest of course.

“Our brewers surprised us with this one and we were amazed how well the flavors and aromas came together to work with Dragon’s Milk. The raspberries bring a depth to Dragon’s Milk that we love and the lemon zest kicks up the fruit aromas and provides a unique, bright, and exciting experience. Our brewers nailed it.” – Brett VanderKamp, President

New Holland Dragon’s Milk Reserve Raspberry Lemon debuts on June 25th at the brewery, and across the brewery’s markets in July.

Expect a new variant in October.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Raspberries, Lemons. Barrel Aged. Bourbon.)
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft. Seasonal.
Release: June, 2016

11% ABV

New Holland Dragon’s Milk debuted in 2001. Today, the beer ages and resides in more than 3,500 oak barrels at the brewery.

Jailhouse Brewing’s Raspberry Saison kicks off “Unshackled Series”

Jailhouse Raspberry Saison

Jailhouse Brewing Raspberry Saison debuts at the brewery this weekend – a new beer, and a new series.

The Hampton, Georgia based brewery was once a jailhouse and courthouse around the turn of the 20th century. Jailhouse names many of their year-round beer and seasonals around the 1920’s-esque jail themes. (Slammer Wheat, Breakout Stout, Restraining Order Porter… you get the idea.)

The new series is dubbed “Unshackled,” where the brewers got loose and created something a bit different from the typical lineup. Raspberry Saison is the first creation.

Brewery founder Glenn Golden tells Beer Street Journal that this new saison is light and refreshing, with hints of local raspberries. It’s already hot in Georgia, this should help.

Jailhouse Brewing Raspberry Saison is a 22 ounce bottle and draft offering.

Style: Saison (w/ Raspberries)
Availability: 22oz Bottles, Draft.
Debut: 6/11/16 (Brewery) Distribution to follow

The brewery is on the cusp of releasing their first can – Alibi, brewed with Georgia grits
