Shipyard Brewing Company extremely popular Pumpkinhead could find its way into cans soon. The brewery is already gearing up to put Export, the brewery’s flagship in cans in the near future. Pumpkinhead is so popular in fact, that the brewery shipped nearly 450,000 cases of the wheat ale in 2011, while also extending the season in which it’s available.
Pumpkinhead Ale is a crisp and refreshing wheat ale with delightful and subtle spice flavor.

Shipyard Inks Deal To Increase Cali Presence
Shipyard is turning to a California winery to help expand its presence on the other side of the country. Portland, Maine based Shipyard Brewing Company has signed with Los Olivos, California based Fess Parker Winery to place Shipyard beers in on/off premise locations throughout California.
Shipyard mentioned that they hope sales in California will increase by 25% with the new deal.

Is Shipyard Brewing Company planning to can Export? Export is the Portland, Maine brewery’s flagship beer. The blonde ale is brewed year round in draft & bottles.

Overall in 2011, the beer business declined by 1.5% nationally. (When you factor in the large breweries.) The craft sector saw an increase of 15% growth in volume of barrels shipped. Shipyard Applehead Ships By End Of Year
Shipyard Brewing’s newest – Applehead will be available by the end of December. A sister beer to Pumpkinhead, the brewery’s fall offering.
“We asked Pumpkinhead fans what other flavors would they like to see and their answer was apple,” said director of sales and marketing, Bruce Forsley. “We listened to what our fans asked for and created Shipyard Applehead. Master brewer Alan Pugsley has combined the subtle sweetness of cinnamon and apple with a clean, refreshing wheat ale to create a whole new beer experience.”
New England will receive the beer first, starting in December. Other Shipyard markets will have it starting in January, 2012. It is already on tap in NH, & MA.
