Dogfish Head SeaQuench Ale marks the brewery’s 3rd can

Dogfish SeaQuench Ale cans

Dogfish Head SeaQuench Ale debuts today, marking the brewery’s third canned beer.

This tart ale is actually three different styles of beer that come together in one union. SeaQuench starts as a traditional kolsch, a salt-forward gose that is brewed with black limes and sea salt, and a Berliner Weisse brewed with lime juice and peel. The three beers were blended together during fermentation, resulting in a mixed, session sour ale.

Recently, Dogfish Head has started transitioning to 12 ounce cans; releasing 60 Minute IPA and Flesh & Blood IPA.

Three styles blissfully brewed in sequence for a citrusy-tart union, our hybrid sour quencher is brewed with lime peel, black limes, and sea salt.

Dogfish Head SeaQuench Ale is brewed in collaboration with the National Aquarium. Dogfish Head has already started various conservation efforts to help preserve local Chesapeake Bay.

As of January 30th, Dogfish Head SeaQuench Ale will be available in 12 ounce cans and draft at the brewery. Distribution to follow soon.

Style: Gose (w/ Lime Peel, Black Limes, Sea Salt)
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft. Seasonal.
Debut (Cans): 1/30/17

The Veil Brewing Never Sufficient (cherry gose) debuts

The Veil Brewing Never Sufficient

The Veil Brewing Never Sufficient, part of the brewery’s Limited Release Series, debuts today in cans.

Using Veil’s house gose (known as Never), the brewery added a “crap load” of Montmorency cherries and black lava salt. Beer Street Journal had a taste of this beer earlier this week. The finished beer is very bright, with a very fresh cherry flavor, and a subtle tart finish. The color is absolutely stunning.

The Veil Brewing Never Sufficient is available in 16 ounce cans, in 4 packs at the brewery in Richmond, Virginia. $16 dollars each.

Style: Gose (w/ Cherries, Black Lava Salt.)
Availability: 16oz Cans. Brewery release.

Lost Abbey Madonna and Child, a tequila barrel sour

Lost Abbey Madonna and Child

Lost Abbey Madonna and Child, a new tequila barrel-aged sour, debuts this Friday in San Marcos, California.

A tequila sour is a first for Lost Abbey. Two years ago, the brewery released Agave Maria, a strong ale brewed with agave nectar and aged in Anejo and Reposado barrels for 10 months.

Lost Abbey Madonna and Child is brewed with lime and salt – pairing with well with the tequila notes from the barrel.

We started with a great base beer and aged it in tequila barrels, added some lime and a bit of salt for some true baja flavors. The result has us rethinking which one of our “children” we truly love the most. Lucky for Madonna, she only had one amazing child to care for.

The 375 milliliter bottles debut on September 23rd at the brewery, with distribution to begin the following Monday.

Style: American Sour/Wild Ale (w/ Lime, Salt. Barrel Aged. Tequila.)
Availability: 375ml Bottles
Debut: 9/23/16

Jester King Space Waves, a dream collab with Jolly Pumpkin

Jester King Space Waves

Jester King Space Waves, a new collaboration with Dexter, Michigan’s Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales, debuts this week.

Getting immediately down to business – the beer. Back in April, Jolly Pumpkin brewed a farmhouse ale brewed with Texas wheat and lime salt, that was ultimately blended with Jester King Montmorency vs. Balafon which was brewed with cherries.

The farmhouse ale features a large addition of hops in the boil in order to keep the bacteria and house mixed culture scaled back pending the 12 to 1 blend of Montmorency. The final blend was bottled on May 31st, and allowed to naturally re-ferment in bottles.

Jester King really dotes on this collaboration, as Jolly Pumpkin has been a strong influence on the Austin, Texas brewery since their inception.

Even appearing in the same sentence as Jolly Pumpkin, let alone collaborating with them, is a surreal experience for which we are extremely grateful. I’m not shy at all to say that Jolly Pumpkin is Jester King’s greatest influence. – Jeffery Stuffings, Founder

Jester King Space Waves is a 750ml bottle release on August 5th. Limited to 3,000 bottles with no distribution.

Style: American Wild Ale (w/ Lime Salt, Cherries. Partially Oak Aged.)
Availability: 750m Bottles.
Debut: 8/5/16

5.6% ABV, 41 IBUs

Spotlight: Avery El Gose (Because it’s still summer)

Avery El Gose can

Avery El Gose is now available in cans. You can figure out the style, right?

If the “El” isn’t a dead giveaway, the sour ale uses lime and sea salt. A bit like a margarita, in a sense.

A timeless, traditional tart gose (goes-uh) with its zesty and salty disposition is brightened by a tangy citrus twist. A bier for every día!

While it seems like folks are already gearing up for fall, it is still nearly 100 degrees outside. Avery El Gose shines in the heat. We are no strangers to boozy margaritas mind you. El Gose’s slight sour tartness, mixed with lime and salt tastes like a bit like your favorite house mix. Actually, that gives me a good idea. Breaking out the tequila with the next can.

12 ounce cans of Avery El Gose debut at a special release party at the Boulder brewery on July, 2016.

Style: Gose (w/ Lime, Salt.)
Availability: 12oz Cans
Release: July 17, 2016

4.5% ABV

Look for Avery Chai High to debut in fall, 2016.

Southern Tier Salted Caramel smells and tastes like dessert

Southern Tier Salted Caramel bottle

Southern Tier Salted Caramel has joined the brewery’s ongoing Blackwater Series. The series is known for beers like Creme Brûlée, and Choklot.

Salted Caramel takes a base imperial milk stout (brewed with lactose), Himalayan pink sea salt, and caramelized sugar to mimic the flavor of the candy. Much like other beers in the Blackwater Series, this dessert beer finishes at 10% alcohol by volume.

Recently, the brewery started moving these big stouts into 12 ounce bottles. Southern Tier Salted Caramel follows that 12 ounce, 4-pack trend.

How does it taste? The name pretty much says it all. Creme Brûlée smells and tastes like a boozy, beer incarnate of the dessert. Salted Caramel smells like caramel, and tastes like a sweet, roasted malt/caramel-y imperial stout with a touch of salt. Find yourself a big glass and some vanilla ice cream.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Pink Sea Salt, Caramelized Sugar.)
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft.
Release: June, 2016 (Bottles hitting markets in July)

10% ABV
