Widmer Shaddock IPA (Nice Pants!) [Video]
Widmer Brothers brewer master Ike Manchester introduces the newest Rotator Series release – Shaddock IPA. The beer is a variation of an earlier IPA release, with dried grapefruit peel.
Widmer’s X-114 IPA With Grapefruit Is Shaddock
I calculate this to be the 4th addition to Widmer Brother’s Rotator IPA Series – Shaddock IPA. The Rotator series features a rotating lineup of hoppy IPAs. Preceeding Shaddock, is Falconer’s IPA, and O’Ryely IPA, X-144 IPA. This new is actually X-114 IPA brewed with with grapefruit peels.
People sometimes describe the aromas and flavors of hoppy IPAs as “grapefruit.” Hell, why not use some then? Widmer’s brewing team used a simple IPA recipe and added a generous amount of dried grapefruit peel to the end of the boil. The aroma is a melody of citrus, with a slight spice undertone, accentuated by the use of Citra hops. The flavor is that of nice hop forward IPA with the bitterness of grapefruit.

Dos Costas Oeste is the result of a collaborative brewing effort between Cigar City Brewing of Florida’s Gulf (West) Coast and The Bruery of Placentia, CA.Like the breweries involved with its creation, this ale cheerfully meanders off the beaten path.
