Wicked Weed Metatropics a collaboration with Trois Dames debuts

Wicked Weed Metatropics

Wicked Weed Metatropics, a collaboration with Switzerland based Trois Dames, debuts in bottles.

Collaborations have been frequent from Wicked Weed lately. The brewery released “Juiceless” a collaboration with Georgia’s Creature Comforts (an IPA brewed with zero fruit). Additionally, a beer geek panic inducing collaboration with Jester King is on the horizon.

Wicked Weed Metatropics might be the complete opposite of everything that the Juiceless collaboration actually is. Why? this India pale ale boasts a healthy dose of tropical fruits – pineapple, grapefruit, passionfruit, and mango. Wicked Weed throws out words like meta, and deconstructed, in the description.

Wicked Weed Metatropics is a collaboration beer that flips current IPA methodology on it’s head. Wicked Weed and Trois Dames love using hops to produce an equatorial, citrusy character, but decided to deconstruct this process to forge something new. This beer employs real pineapple, passionfruit, mango and grapefruit to emulate tropical hop flavors. The addition of Brettanomyces wild yeast takes this beer to new heights of meta refreshment.

Wicked Weed Metatropics is a 500 milliliter bottle release, as well as draft. Limited distribution starts the week of October 17th.

Style: American Wild Ale (w/ Mango, Grapefruit, Passionfruit, Pineapple.)
Availability: 500ml Bottles

Debut: Mid-October, 2016

Wicked Weed Genesis returns after a year

Wicked Weed Genesis

Wicked Weed Genesis has returned to the Asheville, North Carolina brewery’s lineup. It has been about a year since the beer was last released.

Over 200 pounds of papaya, mango, guava, and pineapple are used to create Wicked Weed Genesis, which is aged in white wine barrels 6-12 months.

In the first days, everything was black, barren, void of meaning. Life hid in the shadows and was kept at bay by nothingness. In the world’s stillest moment, a thunderous crack divided the skies. From the parched rock, water burgeoned forth, spilled over the black mountains and the Spirit Iyapa’s presence was imparted. What began as a whisper turned to a roar of life. Cell by cell, plant by plant, a vibrant world emerged.

Wicked Weed Genesis is a 500 milliliter bottle release. Available at both brewery locations, with limited distribution to follow.

Style: American Wild Ale (w/ Papaya, Pineapple, Guava, MangoWine Barrel Aged)
Availability: 500ml Bottles, Draft. Limited.
Latest Return: Early July, 2016

6.6% ABV

Ballast Point Pineapple Sculpin cans ship

Ballast Point Pineapple Sculpin bottle

Ballast Point Pineapple Sculpin cans are now shipping from the San Diego, California based brewery.

Sculpin IPA, the brewery’s leading IPA, has two other bottled siblings – Grapefruit Sculpin, and Habanero Sculpin.

Ballast Point Pineapple Sculpin combines the aggressive but balanced IPA with the tropical twist of pineapple. Bottles and draft started shipping in January of this year.

Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.

Ballast Point Pineapple Sculpin IPA is a draft, and 12 ounce bottle and 12 ounce can offering.

Style: IPA (w/ Pineapple)
Availability: 12oz Bottles, 12 oz Bottles, Draft.
Release: March, 2016 (Cans)

7% ABV
