Ommegang Celebrates The Dark Arts

Ommegang Art Of DarknessOmmegang will be releasing a new Belgian strong dark ale during the second quarter this year.  This label wreaks of a certain school of witchcraft and wizardry.  Sounds like it belongs in Slytherin.

Art Of Darkness unites barley and wheat malts, and flaked oats, Ommegang yeast, and noble hops in a bewitching demonstration of the brewing arts. Yet there are no secret ingredients nor mystical incantations.  There is only the highest realization of the art of brewing a dark Belgian-style ale of extraordinary flavor, aroma, and balance.  This ale walks the line  between being savored now, and being cellared to relish later.  As a discerning patron of the dark arts, you an make your own choice.

Style: Belgian Strong Dark
Availability: 750ml bottles, corked & caged.  Draft.
Arrival: TBA

8.7% ABV

Flying Fish Exit 8

The is Exit 8 on the Flying Fish turnpike of beers.  Chestnut Brown Ale celebrates what puts the “Garden” in Garden State.

The long-delayed eighth stop on our mult-year trip to explore New Jersey though its beer and culture brings up to, coincidentally, Exit 8 and celebrates what puts the “Garden” in Garden State.   Did you know that New Jersey has more than 9,800 farms covering 790,000 acres?  We’re in the top four nationally in blueberries, cranberries, spinach, peaches, bell peppers and head lettuce produced.  Not bad for the most densely populated state.  To celebrate Exit 8, one of our big farming areas, we’ve brewed a beer that uses a lost local ingredient chestnuts-and a popular current one – local honey.

This full-boided hybrid Belgian-style brown ale brings forward a nutty character from the chestnuts, accented by the flavors of honey, roasted barley and oat flakes.  Theres’a nice spienes from the Mt. Rainer hops while the Chinooks add a touch of pine.  Fuggles and Columbus round out the hop profile.  Exit 8 pairs perfectly well with hearty foods like roast pork, sausages, or a nice aged gouda.

Style: Belgian Brown Ale
Availability: 25.4 oz bottles
Arrival: TBA

8.3% ABV

Other Exit beers include:

Exit 1: Oyster Stout
Exit 11: Hoppy American Wheat
Exit 13: Chocolate Stout
Exit 16: Wild Rice Double IPA
Exit 4: American Tripel
Exit 6: Wallonian Rye (There was a 2nd edition w/ brett)
Exit 9: Hoppy Scarlet Ale

Cherries & Chocolate? Seduction Is Here

The latest release from Brewery Ommegang is on shelves.  Seduction is here – a Belgian ale that brings in flavors of cherries & chocolate from Belgian chocolatier Callebut.  The brewery blended a base Belgian ale and Liefmans Cuvee.

Ommegang Seduction is a temptingly roast ale breed with five dark barley malts.  Belgian Chocolatier Callebut provides the chocolate, while Liefmans Cuvee Brut brings the cherries.  WIth alluring aromas and flavors of Belgian chocolate and an underlying flavor note of tart cherries, Ommegang Seduction is an ale to be lovingly embraced.  Undeniably rich and smooth, Seduction is also true and warm hearted.  Lightly hopped, it harbors no bitterness, leaving only lingering glow.

Style: Belgian Dark Ale
Taste Expectations: Tart cherry, dark chocolate.  Touch of coffee.  Porter flavor surfaces in the finish.
Availability: 750ml bottles, Draft.
