Flying Fish Celebrates a New Jersey Milestone

Flying Fish Brewery will pay homage to New Jersey history with NJ350 Anniversary Ale. Long before the state was named, a Dutch brewery resided in modern day Hoboken.

NJ350 Anniversary Ale is an English Stock Ale brewed with molasses.

English pale malts and flaked barley meld with blackstrap molasses for a hearty and complex malt flavor. For hops, we used Cluster, the first hop cultivated in the US. The beer finishes with the more modern Simcoe and Centennial. The latter give a deep piney flavor and aroma, a nod to a state treasure – the Pine Barrens.

Style: Old Ale (w/ Molasses)
Hops: Cluster, Simcoe, Centennial

F.U. Sandy Generates $45,000 for Charity

After completely selling out of F. U. Sandy, Flying Fish is pleased to announce that they have raised $45,000 to be distributed to local charities benefitting Hurricane Sandy victims. After accepting nominations via social media, Habitat for Humanity’s New Jersey chapters, Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund, and Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey will each be receiving $15,000. When the beer was launched in February, Flying Fish was adamant about 100% of profit from sales of this beer be donated and are excited to follow through.

“New Jersey is one tight-knit state, and our fans and friends proved that with their overwhelming response to this special beer. From our wholesalers to the local bars and restaurants that made sure no keg went unsold to the dedicated drinkers who nominated our three exceptional beneficiaries, it’s obvious that NJ residents are committed to bringing their communities back, better than ever, after the storm.” Gene Muller, Flying Fish founder and president.

Flying Fish To Debut FU Sandy Benefit Beer

Flying Fish Brewing Company will debut (F. U.) Sandy (Forever Unloved) to benefiting the victims in New Jersey of superstorm Sandy. The beer? A hybrid wheat ale / pale ale blend, brewed with experimental hop ADHA 483, donated by the American Dwarf Hop Association.

“At Flying Fish, we proudly hail from the great state of New Jersey, so when tragedy struck, we knew immediately that we wanted to do something to help,” says Muller.  “Every single aspect of this beer, from the man-hours spent brewing it to the hops used to season it to the kegs that will contain it, has been donated so every cent brought in goes to Superstorm Sandy victims.”

100 Kegs will be produced, generating $50,000 dollars for Hurricane victim charities. The recipient of the F. U. Sandy funds will be a grassroots NJ-based charitable organization dedicated to Superstorm Sandy relief and chosen by Flying Fish fans via social media.  To nominate a charity, hit the brewery up Twitter:  @jerseyfreshale &  Facebook.
