De Struise is soon to release Kamikaze, a collaboration with Rio Brewing & Co. This Kamikaze boasts 500 IBUs (can humans even detect that?) and bourbon barrel aging.
… also known in different languages as KAMIKAZE. Second special ale brewed with brew master Ryohei Sugawara San from Rio Brewing Co. A stunning 500 IBU hop bitterness brings this 16% ABV pale ale back in balance. Oak aged for 6 months in Bourbon barrels before dry hopping this monster. This ale is unblended, unfiltered, unpasterized and bottle conditioned.
Style: Strong Ale (Barrel Aged)
Availability: 750 ml bottles
U.S. Release is uncertain.
This ale was brewed back in 2008, and in collaboration with brew master Rychei Sugawa San from Rio Brewing & Co. Our goal was to brew a Belgian dark golden blond quadrupel with an enormous potential of aromas and flavors, and added complexity due to oak barrel aging. Bourbon barels from Kentucky were chosen due to their very special soft roast quality and noble vanilla flavors. Year upon year, different quality controls were executed, and we finally decided to bottle condition this very special ale in May 2012. Another three moths of cold maturing was done at the brewery, so we could be sure about the absolute quality before releasing to our customers.
Style: Quadrupel (Barrel Aged)
Availability: 75 cl bottles (750 ml)
Arrival: Summer, 2012. U.S. release unknown
Struise Pannepeut 2011
Pannepøt (read Pannepeut) is a beer specially brewed and named as a wink to the Danish market presented at the Danish beer festival ’Københavnske Øldage 2006’ exclusively at Ølbutikkens stand. It is produced to express the brewers gratitude to all the Danish beer amateurs that drink their products daily. Pannepøt has later been available on draught and bottles at bars and shops in Belgium & Denmark. Since winter 2006, this beer’s popularity kept growing in Belgium at such a level that the production today equals Pannepot.
Style: Belgian Strong Ale
Availability: 11.2 oz bottles
Taste Expectations: Complex. Fruit, Caramel, toffee, dark fruits, and dark chocolate. Boozy.
The 2011 vintage of De Struise Pannepot is now available. Pannepot ranks among BeerAdvocate.com’s Top 100 Beers on Planet earth.
The Pannepøt owes its name to our Danish friends and customers who eagerly and often drink de Struise beers. As a tribute to them, we developed this brew in occasion of the International Beer Festival in Copenhagen which took place in May 2006. The beer has always been popular in it’s own region and was so well received at the festival that we decided to continue brewing it.
Taste Expectations: (Per Shelton) Aromas of dried fruit and spice. It reveals licorice, nutmeg, fruit, and caramel on the palate
Availability: 330ml bottles, some draft.
