Half Acre Lager Town Returns Soon. Three Different Labels This Year

Half Acre Brewing (Chicago, IL) is ready to release another round of Lager Town, the brewery’s oktoberfest. Simply put, this beer is brewed with the idea that you should take some time, drink beers with friends and family. Enjoy your self.

Oktoberfest beers, for us, celebrate the seasonal fallout and going toe to toe with your family and friends. Ultimately, the beers fade into the background and serve as a foundation in a much larger quest.

There are three labels that will accompany Lager Town this year. For fun. Feel free to collect all three seen below. Half Acre Lager Town is available in 22oz bombers and draft.

Style: Oktoberfest
Availability: 22oz Bombers, Draft. Seasonal
Return: 9/5/14, Noon

Half Acre & Mikkeller, Round 2

Half Acre Brewing (Chicago, IL) and Mikkeller (Um, everywhere) collaborated on Guest Lager once before. The collab is touted as an “ode to all things nonsensical.” This hoppy lager is available in both draft and 16oz cans.

At 8% ABV, clean, Pilsner and Vienna malts, support a lager masquerading with the hop kids. Falconer’s Flight and Nelson Sauvin serve up a dank, orange blossom mouth fantasy that’ll hide your shoes under the bed and ask you to stay awhile.

Grab this special offering in the tap room starting today.

Style: Lager
Availability: 16oz Cans, Draft
Arrival: 4/4/14

Half Acre to Open Second Brewery

Chicago’s Half Acre Brewery will spend their 2014 building a second brewery just a stone’s throw from their original location.

The new spot is less than two miles from the current location on Lincoln Avenue.  To give you a little understanding of size, the current location produces around 13,000 barrels (400,000 gallons) of beer annually.

The new location on Balmoral Avenue is nearly four times the size of the current 13,000 square foot location. This will allow the brewery to better serve Illinois before ever reaching even further.  The larger facility will brew the bulk of Half Acre’s year round offerings, allowing the current location to serve as a playground for seasonals and one-offs.

The current timeline has the brewery functional in late October. The addition of a restaurant and taproom are in the plans too, with no timeline on their completion.

The new spot will be located on 2050 W. Balmoral Ave,  Chicago, IL.

Short’s Brewing Captain Fantasy Collaboration Is A Fan Fav

Short’s Brewing’s 2013 Fan’s Choice beer is Captain Fantasy, a collaboration with Half Acre Brewing Company out of Chicago. The first edition of this collaboration dates back to 2011.

For this collaboration, the breweries chose a saison, and added pears and Sorachi Ace hops.

The result is a lighter bodied ale with a pale goldenrod color and subtle haze. Satisfying aromas of nutmeg and spice blend with bright fruity hop fragrances. A lively amount of carbonation cleanses and refreshes while leading into flavors of sweet pear, tart lemon, and pleasant herbal subtleties. The overall fruitiness is abruptly interrupted by an assertive hop bitterness that dominates the finish, turning noticeably dry.

Captain Fantasy is now available throughout Michigan

Style: Saison (w/ Pears)
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Limited Draft

6.7% ABV
