Collaboration: Alesmith Mikkeller Beer Geek Speedway

Alesmith Brewing Company has unveiled a new collaboration with Danish brewer Mikkeller. The beer- Beer Geek Speedway.

You’ll notice this is a fusion of each of the brewery’s popular offerings – Speedway Stout, and Beer Geek Brunch. Beer Geek Speedway also uses the most expensive coffee in the world – the Kopi Luwak (aka weasel poop coffee.) Alemith and Mikkeller both use Kopi Luwak in some of their offerings.

It’s a collaborative project that will take shape as an Imperial Oatmeal Stout directly influenced by our legendary Speedway Stout and Mikkeller’s infamous Beer Geek Brunch Weasel.

There is no release date yet for Alesmith Mikkeller Beer Geek Speedway.

Alesmith Releases Halloween Offering, Evil Dead Red

Alesmith Brewing (San Diego, CA) has released their Halloween themed brew a little early this year – Evil Dead Red. The beer is blood red (of course), meant to be drank in costume, over semi-sober pumpkin carving, or while watching a good horror flick.

Each Halloween we release this special concoction to celebrate one of our favorite holidays. Deep blood-red in color, an intense aroma of pine and citrus from an abundance of American hops balances the sweetness and rich, bready flavors of this beer’s caramel malts. The result is a fiendishly smooth brew that will make your taste buds scream with delight.

Alesmith Evil Dead Read is available in 22oz bombers and draft for a limited time. The brewery’s tap room has a special t-shirt, just for this occasion.

Style: Red Ale
Availability: 22oz Bombers, Draft
Arrival: 9/8/2014

6.66% ABV

AleSmith Has New Expensive Coffee Speedway

AleSmith Brewing Company has teamed up with Mostra Coffee to create the next single varietal Speedway Stout

Speedway Stout is the brewery’s famed imperial stout brewed with coffee. The brewery has recently created “varietals” that change the specialty coffee bean in the brew.

This next release features cold brewed Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee beans. Those not big into beans, Jamaica Blue Mountain are grown in the highest peaks in the Caribbean, making them unique, and prized.

Mike Arquines, Roaster for Mostra Co. said, “This opportunity is surreal. Prior to this collaboration, AleSmith was one of my all-time favorite breweries!

AleSmith Brewing chooses some of the best coffee beans in the world for their varietal releases, this edition should be no different. Tickets for the bottle release go on sale on March 3rd. Release party at the brewery on March 8th.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Coffee)
Availability: 750ml Bottles

The Alesmith/Cigar City “Dubbel Coast” Collab

Just a bit more on the upcoming Alesmith/ Cigar City Brewing collaboration, Dubbel Dare. The brewery travelled down to Tampa recently to create a tropical collaboration.

The result is this 80’s throwback, Dubbel Dare suitable for a physical challenge. When you think about Florida, you think beaches right? Coconuts, palm trees, etc? There’s the inspiration for a tropical Belgian-style dubbel. Coconut palm sugar was used in place of candi sugar. Deglet Noor dates and Black Mission figs were added to the fermentation. An abbey yeast strain rounds out the flavor. Now you have a “dubbel coast” collaboration.

Cigar City will bottle this in 750ml bottles for Florida distribution.

Style: Dubbel (w/ Coconut Palm Sugar, Deglet Noor Dates, Black Mission Figs)
Availability: 25.4oz Bottles
Arrival: TBA

“Barrel Aged Old Numbskull is our award winning American Barleywine Ale matured in premium bourbon barrels for up to one year to develop it’s rich intense flavor profile.  This beer has not been released since 2010.

Kopi Luwak Speedway Stout is our award winning year round Speedway Stout with Kopi Luwak Coffee. Considered one of the world’s most expensive and rare coffee varieties, the beans are specifically selected for their ripeness and quality by the civet, a small jungle marsupial that feeds of the fruit of the coffee cherry. Expertly roasted by San Diego’s Ryan Bros. Coffee leads to an extremely aromatic and exceptionally smooth final product that complements Speedway Stout exceptionally well!

AleSmith has very specific requirements for the ordering and pick up of these rare beers. Only 4 bottles of each beer can be ordered and must be ordered in your name. When picking up you must be able to show ID and no proxy orders will be accepted. Also, all bottles must be picked up between January 19th and March 10th at the brewery or they will be surrendered back to the brewery.
