Bottles for Allagash Bourbon Black?

Allagash Bourbon Barrel Black

Allagash Brewing Company’s (Portland, ME) Bourbon Barrel Black is pretty amazing. The Belgian style stout is introduced into bourbon barrels and the result is a dark beer dream. This rare treat has only been available on draft for a while now. Finding it has been a bit like seeing a bald eagle in the wild. Rare, and beautiful.

It looks like Allagash is planning to release some of this treat in 75o ml bottles in the future. This week, the brewery was filling bourbon barrels with black, so we do know more is coming. Black is brewed with wheat, oats, barley and candi sugar.

Avery Barrel Aged #17: Thensaurum Barrel Aged Sour

There has been a lot of activity in Avery Brewing’s Barrel Aged Series lately. Early May saw the release of #14: Volunt Plus Erat. We now patiently await the June release of #15, Momi Hiwi.  On deck is #16 Ross’s’s Melange aged in wine barrels with grape must. Take a look at #17 in the series, Thensaurum, a rum barreled wild ale.

No. 17. No map required. Here it is matey. A treasure trove of exotic flavors unearthed from a year-long burial in exquisite first run rum barrels. Arrr you ready for the pucker?

Holy Sheet! is back from Heavy Seas Brewing (Baltimore, MD). Just when you thought this beer couldn’t get any better, the Belgian style abbey ale spent time in a brandy barrel. Sheet is the third release in the new Uncharted Waters Series. (Previously Mutiny Fleet). Start looking for the brandy aged bottle of sexy this month.

Rich, complex and unique, Abbey style ales are transcendent, and ours stands proudly in the ranks. Aged in brandy barrels, Holy Sheet is a mahogany ale brewed with Belgian Abbey yeast, candi sucre, and unique crystal malts. Elevation Beer  False Summit, new to the brewery’s Double Black Series.

Elevation Beer False Summit is a bourbon barrel aged, quadrupel, aged in Breck Distilling bourbon barrels.

“...False Summit, is a fantastic 11.1% ABV quadrupel and much more traditional then our Apis IV.  We aged it in Breck Distilling Bourbon Barrels to give it nice subtle notes of vanilla, oak, and bourbon.”

Elevation Gets You To Third Base

Elevation Beer Company (Poncha Springs, Colorado) is now announcing their new spring seasonals, one which will have you rounding Third Base. (heh.) Third Base, a traditional Belgian tripel in its Black Series seasonal beers

“Third Base will come in at 9% ABV and was brewed using Belgian Candi Sugar and a traditional Belgian yeast strain, giving it great notes of pepper, clove, orange peel and spice,”  – Christian Koch

Dogfish Head L’Interimaire Saison

Dogfish Head L'Interimaire

A newbie from Dogfish Head (Milton, DE) –  L’Interimaire. A saison brewed with honey, Belgian candy sugar and Verjous Rouge. Verjous Rouge (pronounced vair-ZHOO) is the tart, fresh juice of unripe wine grapes. Typically used for sauce making for flavoring meats.
