Mother Earth Silent Night ’11 Release Deets

The 2011 release of Mother Earth Brewing’s Silent Night Imperial Stout is 12/1/11.   Night is a bourbon barrel aged imperial stout that just might rival others you may have had before.  This years edition has a bit of a twist – coffee.  Specifically Counter Culture Coffee.

Counter Culture Coffee tweaked their classic 1922 Mocha & Java blend just for us to give Silent Night an even more pronounced note of rich dark chocolate. For added body, richness, and complexity, we also mixed in Counter Culture’s sweet, heirloom Jagong coffee from northern Sumatra. Four pounds of savory beans went in each 20bbl batch. They were rough ground and steeped in the whirlpool for an hour.

Silent night just left the barrels last week, where it’s been since September.  It will be bottled next week, 750ml bottles corked/caged.

There are 2 release parties:

11/30/11 – Beasley’s Chicken + Honey in Raleigh, NC

12/1/11 – Tap Room in Kingston, North Carolina.

Style: Imperial Stout, Barrel Aged
Availability: 750ml bottles. Draft.  Winter Seasonal

Mother Earth Silent Night With A Coffee Twist Releases 12/1

Mother Earth Brewing has scheduled the release of it’s winter seasonal, Silent Night, for December 1st.  It will be released in corked 750ml bottles and draft.  Bottles will be available at the taproom and some kegs will make it out across the state.

Right now this festive brew is making its way to 24 whiskey barrels where it will sit for about 2 months.  Then it will be transferred to a brite tank for carbonation before being bottled.

As a special treat this year, Mother Earth Brewing has collaborated with Counter Culture Coffee (Durham, NC) and Silent Night was seeped in the whirlpool with a custom coffee blend made just for the brewery.

Mother Earth Dark Cloud

Mother Earth Dark Cloud Dunkel

Steeped in a long history dating back hundreds of years, this “old-fashioned” beer is again in vogue. Lager is the German word meaning “to store,” so this beer ages three times longer than our ales do. “Dunkel” means dark in German, but don’t let the color fool you, it is by no means heavy, overbearing or bitter. In fact, it proves to be a very drinkable session beer.

Style: Munich Style Dunkel
Availability: 12 oz bottles, Draft

Mother Earth Weeping Willow Wit

Mother Earth Brewing Weeping Willow Wit.

This beer style is over 400 years old, and continues to enjoy overwhelming popularity. Offering low hop bitterness, it is easy to enjoy. It pours very hazy, with a light gold color… we say it’s like summertime in a glass. Bitter orange peel and fresh coriander add zest and depth to this refreshing beer.

Style: Witbier

Flavor? Per ME: Our Wit offers a light flavor that carefully balances sweet and tart. Can you guess the secret spice?

Food Pairings:  Fruit Salad, Grilled Chicken, Grilled Tuna, Steamed Mussels, Buffalo Mozzarella, Mango Pie

Availability: 12 oz bottles, Draft. Available Year-Round
