Innis & Gunn Smoke and Mirrors, a beer for American politics, encourages a straight-talking honesty by adding ingredients that act as a truth serum. The brewery sent both Hillary and Trump bottles of this new truth serum beer to “remind them of the importance of truthful campaigning as they battle it out to become the country’s next President.”
Scotland is no stranger to political uncertainty and relates to those times where honesty becomes a blurry concept. Therefore, Smoke and Mirrors is a beer brewed specifically for the American people during the election of 2016. Founder and Master Brewer, Dougal Gunn Sharp commented,
“Scotland is a straight-talking nation and we’re looking forward to bringing a little part of our Scottish candidness over to the States, along with our most innovative brew to date, Smoke & Mirrors. Our latest beer has been brewed especially for the American people and demonstrates how beer can be so much more than just a drink. Through Smoke & Mirrors, we have the power to open up a more real, more honest world.”
Innis & Gunn Smoke and Mirrors, uses the Innis & Gunn strong ale base we all know and love, plus the brewery’s “truth serum”. The serum adds licorice root, mullein (a natural herb), and vine essence (yet another herb).
This offering is a limited release, as in probably just Hillary and Trump.

Innis & Gunn Vintage is the latest barrel-aged offering released by the Edinburgh, Scotland based brewery.
This release is a little different from the brewery’s other barrel-aged releases. Innis & Gunn Vintage is an English strong ale, aged in American bourbon barrels for 100 days. This release is bottle conditioned with live yeast prior to release.
“Vintage is a special beer,” he says. “It tastes incredible and has been a labor of love that we’ve been working on for several years. From sourcing the best first-fill bourbon casks we could get our hands on to deliberating over the right combination of malts, this brew is a thank you to our fans and a promise of what’s still to come. – Dougal Gunn Sharp”
Innis & Gunn Vintage is available in 25 ounce bottles.

Scottish craft brewery Innis & Gunn has a new bourbon ale on the horizon for the United States- Bourbon Cask Dark Ale.
Dougal Sharp, founder of the brewery, is a firm believer that beer doesn’t need a year in barrels to get the full flavor potential from aging. Bourbon Cask Dark Ale spends 30 days aging in bourbon before finishing and packaging.
This very special dark ale has been brewed in small batches and then matured in hand-selected, first-fill Bourbon casks to give it its rich, rounded character. Notes of brown sugar, orange oil and coffee beans are complemented by an earthy freshness from the hops, and the 30 days the beer’s spent in oak have ensured a satisfyingly smooth finish.

Odell and Boulevard opened a day apart, initially focusing on English-style beers. With that in mind, the breweries will create an English strong ale to be released in November, 2014.
“Back in the late ‘80s, there were only a handful of us crazy enough to start our own local breweries,” said John McDonald, Boulevard founder. “We leaned on each other to talk through ideas, brewing techniques and distribution methods. I’ve always respected Doug’s path and – looking at what Odell Brewing has become today – I’m proud to call him a friend and colleague.”
To celebrate the anniversaries, both breweries are planning special dinners, and tastings surrounding the release. 750ml bottles will release in Boulevard’s 25 states of distribution, and Odell Brewing’s 11 states.

In a collaboration with Market Garden Brewery in Cleveland, Victory will be brewing a beer style thought to be extinct in the United States. Kennett Ale was inspired by a ghost advertisement on the side of a wall in Cleveland and will be a re-creation of a style of beer originating in the Kennet/Reading region of England.
The brew uses English and German malts and is spiced with coriander, grains of paradise, and a bit of Piment d’Esplette peppers and brown sugar creating a 19th century style amber strong ale. A batch has been brewed at each brewery and will be available draft only starting April 2nd at Victory and April 4th at Market Garden.
Style: English Strong Ale
