Pipeworks Renames Batata

Pipeworks Brewing Company’s (Chicago, IL) are the buzz of social media these days. Of course they are, when you have beers like Raspberry Truffle Abduction, Coffee Break Abduction, and Smore Money, Smore Problems.

Pipeworks Batata Obscura looks like a rename of Nisperos Batata. This edition is higher in alcohol, and the brewery mentions it is worthy of cellaring.

It is inspired by the Puerto Rican dessert by the same name. Batata is brewed with sweet potatoes, clove, cinnamon, vanilla and toasted coconut, and is a perfect tribute to the brewery’s Puerto Rican neighbors.

Style: Imperial Porter (w/ Sweet Potatoes, Vanilla, Clove, Cinnamon, Coconut)
Availability: 22oz Bombers

In recent years, variants of this brew have surfaced. The Bourbon County line is now home to editions like Bourbon County Vanilla, Cherry Rye, Bourbon County Coffee, Barleywine and more.

Be sure to add this variant – Proprietor’s Bourbon County with coconut, aged in rye whiskey barrels. It sounds as tropical is it is dark, brooding, and delicious. This offering is coming in 22oz bottles in late November.
