Odell Fernet Aged Porter Returns in January

Odell Frenet Aged Porter

Odell Brewing Co (Fort Collins, CO) is ready to release Fernet Aged Porter for the second time. The unique porter is a collaboration with Denver based Leopold Bros. Distillery. Fernet is a dark minty liqueur made with herbs & spices and aged in oak barrels. Leopold Bros. creates their version of Fernet with lavender, honeysuckle, ginger root, bitter aloe, dandelion root, rose petals, chamomile, and peppermint.

The roasty chocolate malt character of the beer is infused with hints of mint and licorice from the herb soaked oak, creating a decadent flavor and aroma.

Boulevard & Odell Celebrate 25 Years with a Special Collaboration

Boulevard Silver Anniversary Ale

2014 marks the silver anniversary for American craft brewers Boulevard Brewing  (Kansas City, MO) and Odell Brewing (Ft. Collins, CO).

On November 17th, 1989, John McDonald sold his first keg of Boulevard beer. One day later, John Odell sold his first keg, kicking off a quarter century of brewing success. To honor the occasion, the breweries are creating Silver Anniversary Ale.

On November 17, 1989 John McDonald loaded a keg of Boulevard Pale Ale into the back of his pick up truck and drove to a restaurant a few blocks down the street. Scarcely 24 hours later and 650 miles away, Doug Odell loaded a keg of Odell Golden Ale into the back of his pick up truck and… You get the idea. They were the first kegs of beer either of them ever sold, but they wouldn’t be the last. This golden copper ale celebrates 25 years of brewing with an ample body of caramel – toffee malt balance by piney hop notes. Here’s a toast to working hard and sticking with it. Cheers!

Both Odell Brewing and Boulevard Brewing are slated to release either own editions of Silver Anniversary Ale. The Boulevard edition depicted here will be packaged in 750ml bottles.

Odell Fifty Niner Arrives July 11th

Odell Brewing (Fort Collins, CO) will release their latest offering in the Cellar Series, Fifty Niner. The golden ale with brettanomyces is named for the Colorado gold rush of 1859.

“This is a complex and fun beer,” Odell Brewing’s QA/QC manager Eli Kolodny said. “It’s a golden ale brewed with Belgian Candi sugar and fermented with our house ale strain. The first hundred barrels were conditioned in a stainless fermentor that had staves hung in it. Suspending the staves directly in the fermentor allowed for a much faster extraction of the wood character, while maintaining the quality of the finished beer.”

Odell Fifty Niner arrives in the tap room on July 11th. Shortly after, 750ml bottles will hit Odell’s 11 state distribution network.

Style: American Wild Ale (w/ Candi Sugar. Oak Aged)
Availability: 750ml Bottles, Corked & Caged
Arrival: July 11, 2014

“Over the years we’ve shared everything from laughter, to beers, to perspective,” said New Belgium Brewing CEO, Kim Jordan. “FOCOllaboration celebrates that camaraderie and the mutual respect of being a couple of brewers who grew up together in the same neighborhood.”

Interestingly, Odell and New Belgium are less than a mile apart from each other in Fort Collins, Colorado. Even though they are so close, they haven’t collaborated until now.

Boulevard & Odell Brewing Announce Collaboration

During the SAVOR this week, Boulevard Brewing and Odell Brewing announced a special collaboration between the two breweries.

Odell and Boulevard opened a day apart, initially focusing on English-style beers. With that in mind, the breweries will create an English strong ale to be released in November, 2014.

“Back in the late ‘80s, there were only a handful of us crazy enough to start our own local breweries,” said John McDonald, Boulevard founder. “We leaned on each other to talk through ideas, brewing techniques and distribution methods. I’ve always respected Doug’s path and – looking at what Odell Brewing has become today – I’m proud to call him a friend and colleague.”

To celebrate the anniversaries, both breweries are planning special dinners, and tastings surrounding the release. 750ml bottles will release in Boulevard’s 25 states of distribution, and Odell Brewing’s 11 states.

Style: English Strong Ale
Availability: 750ml Bottles
Arrival: November, 2014
