Portland, Oregon-based Ecliptic Brewing is opening a second location in nearby Southeast Portland this summer.
Ecliptic is calling the new space the “The Moon Room,” taking over Base Camp Brewing’s space that closed earlier this year.
“We’ve been talking about opening another location for a long time now, so we’re really stoked about this opportunity. There’s a lot of work ahead to make it happen, but the team is excited for growth,” says John Harris, Ecliptic owner, and brewmaster.
“The Moon Room” will be more than a taproom – it will be a full brewery and production facility, complete with a custom Ecliptic food truck and full bar. Expect the new facility to have an emphasis on lager production.
Ecliptic Brewing’s “Moon Room” is located at 930 SE Oak Street, Portland.

Ecliptic Quasar Pale Ale is one of two releases that kick off the Portland, Oregon brewery’s new canned lineup. Starting March 1st, both Quasar Pale Ale and Starburst IPA can be found in 12 ounce cans all year long.
Quasar was brewed with summer in mind. The aggressive dry-hopping give this beer a huge tropical aroma.
Inspired by its luminous namesake, Quasar is our light pale ale brewed for summer. Simcoe and Mosaic hops give Quasar Pale Ale a huge, fresh, tropical hop aroma. Flavorful and easy drinking, Quasar is a stellar beer for enjoying out under the sun.
Ecliptic Quasar Pale Ale is available in 12 ounce cans, and draft.
Style: Pale Ale
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.
Fun fact. A quasar is the small region around a supermassive black hole (found in the center of massive galaxies). The area emits a massive amount of electromagnetic energy, thanks to the mass from the core of the surrounding galaxy due gravitational influence of the black hole, getting pulled into the accretion disk. (The disk is thanks to the gravitational pull into the black hole.) Basically – massive energy release, and extremely fascinating astronomical phenomena. However, the pale ale requires less math.
Part of Ecliptic’s Cosmic Collaboration Series, this release is titled a “Imperial Darkside Lager”, or schwarzbier if you want to get technical. In keeping with Ecliptic’s space tendencies, the beer was ultimately called ‘Star Destroyer‘.
‘In 2016 I approached Van Havig of Gigantic about a collaboration for 2017. He agreed only if we called the beer Star Destroyer? Brewing with the boys from Gigantic is always a good time!’ – John Harris, Ecliptic Brewmaster
Ecliptic Star Destroyer will be available in 22 ounce bottles and draft starting March 1st.
Availability: 22oz Bottles, Draft. One-off release.
Feel the power of the darkside. Bah, Bah, Bah-Bum, Ba, Bum-Bum, Da, Bum. This beer is fully operational. Prepare the attack.
Portland, Oregon’s Ecliptic Brewing is releasing their first canned offering starting March 1st, after three years of brewing. Ecliptic Starburst IPA ships this week.
Owner and head brewer John Harris selected a counter pressure canning system from Codi Manufacturing out of Golden, Colorado, and selected Starburst to lead off the aluminum charge. The Sasquatch Agency created the can designs, keeping the brewery’s astronomical theme intact.
Starburst IPA features Amarillo, Azacca, Centennial, Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops, backed up by 100% pale malt. The finished beer is full of citrus, fruit and pine.
“This next step for Ecliptic has been one that the entire team has stepped up and helped with,” said Harris. “From making major changes in the brewhouse to design decisions for the cans, this process has been really exciting.” – Joe Harris, Owner/Co Founder
