WIRED: The Veil Brewing Single Origin Coffee Hornswoggler

The Veil Brewing Single Origin Coffee Hornswoggler

The famed ‘Hornswoggler’ gets treated to a cup of coffee today. The Veil Brewing Single Origin Coffee Hornswoggler debuts at 4 pm.

This dessert beer series started with a chocolate milk stout known as Hornswoggler. The smooth, creamy, flavors of chocolate with a hint of coffee is as rich as it is pleasing. That release has spun off variants like Coconut, Oreos, and even candy bars.

The Veil Brewing Single Origin Coffee Hornswoggler is the latest variant in the lineup, featuring coffee from Richmond, Virginia based Blanchard’s Coffee. After sampling through their roasts, The Veil settled on their Colombia El Obraje variety. Those fans that have tried the brewery’s Snozzwired (and loved it), you’ll be happy to know there is 3 times more coffee in Single Origin Coffee Hornswoggler.

This is just EXPLODING with intense coffee both on the aromatics and palate.

The Veil Brewing Single Origin Coffee Hornswoggler will be available in 16-ounce cans when the brewery opens on September 12th.

Style: Milk Stout (w/ Coffee. Lactose.)

Finally. Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro cans are here

Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout Cans

Left Hand Brewing made headlines a few years ago when they debuted their milk stout in bottles. At the time they were the first craft brewery to transition to nitro packaging. With the addition of cans to their lineup, many fans thought the lack of milk stout was an oversight. Not anymore Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro cans will debut this year.

One of the most recognizable milk stouts in the world is finally getting the can treatment. The smooth and creamy (and chocolatey) milk stout will soon go everywhere you go, with no glass limitations. The best part of this news? These babies are a full 16 ounces. While the bottles are nitrogen injected, each for the cans have a nitro “widget” that’s stuck to the bottom of the can. Nitrogen gas rushes upward through beer upon opening. No glass needed.

While a glass is always recommended for the perfect pint, especially when you #PourHard a Nitro bottle, cans bring a greater drinking versatility, and bring Milk Stout Nitro to your lips with the crack of a can.

Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro cans will be available across the brewery’s 40 state reach starting in August.

New Seasonal: Boulevard Tough Kitty Milk Stout

Boulevard Tough Kitty Milk Stout

A lot of breweries have cats. Kansas City, Missouri is home to a new feline, and it’s a tough one. Meet Boulevard Tough Kitty Milk Stout.

This new seasonal stout leads with flavors of chocolate and caramel flavors thanks to the beer’s malt bill. Rolled oats and lactose ensure this beer is silky smooth.

Subtle hopping with Bravo and Cascade creates just enough bitterness to prevent the beer from being overly cloying. Deep black in color, Tough Kitty opens with aromas of bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and toffee that transition to flavors of the same. The addition of lactose, a non-fermentable sugar, works with the rolled oats to deliver a creamy, lingering finish.

Boulevard Tough Kitty Milk Stout is available in 12-ounce bottles and draft, as a seasonal release.

Style: MIlk Stout (w/ Lactose.)
Hops: Bravo, Cascade
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft.
Debut: August 2017

Think Mounds candy bar: The Veil Brewing Coconut Hornswoggler

The Veil Brewing Coconut Hornswoggler teaser

The Veil Brewing Coconut Hornswoggler returns to the Richmond, Virginia based brewery’s lineup again on August 8th.

This foray into dessert beer started with the base creation Hornswoggler, a silky, chocolate milk stout. The base chocolate milk stout has been condition on hundreds of pounds of coconut. The brewery doesn’t half-ass these addtions. When they say coconut, they mean it.

Chocolate chips & candy bars make The Veil Brewing Double Chocolate Hornswoggler

The Veil Brewing Double Chocolate Hornswoggler Milk Stout can

The Veil Brewing Double Chocolate Hornswoggler, the latest variant in the brewery’s highly sought after dessert beer series, debuts on June 20th.

French Vanilla, Coconut, Oreo Cookie, and Peanut Butter Oreos aren’t just tasty desserts. It describes the magically delicious lineup known as The Veil Brewing’s Hornswoggler. This release started as a smooth milk stout with chocolate. Since then, it’s gotten more and more eccentric. A bit like that guy and his chocolate factory.

Double Chocolate Hornswoggler has been aged on hundreds of pounds of milk chocolate, plus a random mix of actual candy bars. (Some bars containing nuts.) Thanks to the extra sugar transferred to the beer, keep this cold, and drink fresh. Don’t waste it by cellaring it.

Creamy, velvety, scrumdiddlyumptious chocolate river of a stout. ?=amirite?!

The Veil Brewing Double Chocolate Hornswoggler will be available in 16 ounce cans when the brewery opens on June 20th.

The Veil Brewing French Vanilla Hornswoggler debuts this week

The Veil Brewing French Vanilla Hornswoggler

There’s a new dessert beer in Richmond, Virginia this week. The Veil Brewing French Vanilla Hornswoggler joins the lineup of the brewery’s most decadent.

This journey starts with Hornswoggler, the brewery’s chocolate milk stout. This variant is conditioned on a house blend of coffee, plus vanilla beans and a touch of hazelnut. The brewery explains this beer is a blend of each of the flavors, without one dominating.

The goal for French Vanilla Horns was to be a harmonious blend of all of the adjuncts. It was not the intent for it to be a coffee, Vanilla, or hazelnut bomb. It turned out awesome! Super aromatic. Very complex flavor profile.

The “Hornswoggler” series has featured a Coconut, Oreos, and Peanut Butter Oreos edition.

The Veil Brewing French Vanilla Hornswoggler debuts on May 23rd in limited 16 ounce cans and draft.

Style: Milk Stout (w/ Cocoa Nibs. Coffee. Vanilla Beans. Hazelnut. Lactose.)
Availability: 16oz Cans, Draft.
Debut: 5/23/17

The Veil Brewing is serious about dessert beer with this Oreos & peanut butter release

The Veil Brewing Hornswoggler Oreos Peanut Butter

The Veil Brewing’s Hornswoggler, a chocolate milk stout brewed with an ungodly amount of Oreo cookies was ridiculous. When you poured the beer, little icing chunks flowed into your glass. Today, the brewery takes things a step further.

There are folks out there that dip their Oreo cookie in peanut butter. For those indulgent dessert lovers, The Veil Brewing Bourbon Pecan Peanut Butter & Oreos is brewed for you.

Using the brewery’s chocolate milk stout, the beer has been conditioned on not only hundreds of pounds of Oreo cookies, but Reginald’s Homemade Bourbon Pecan Peanut Butter as well. A win-win for lovers of cookies and peanut butter.

The Oreos edition from January was RIDICULOUS. It was as close to drinking a liquefied cookie as you can get (without actually liquifying a cookie). Dessert Beer is sacred to us at Beer Street Journal, and The Veil ups the ante with this edition. The peanut butter takes the lead, over the Oreos, but they are far from subtle. It’s hard to stop smelling the glass.

Due the fact the beer has been aging this beer on sugary cookies, extra fermentable sugars have been introduced to this beer. If you find yourself lucky enough to possess this mother of all dessert beers, keep the cans cold and drink fresh. Trust us on this one.

A little over 120 cases of The Veil Brewing Bourbon Pecan Peanut Butter & Oreos will be available when the brewery opens at 4 pm.

Style. Milk Stout (w/ LactoseOreo Cookies, Peanut Butter)
Availability: 16oz Cans. Limited.
Debut: 4/4/17
