Yuengling (Pottsville, PA) is America’s oldest brewery. They opened their doors in 1829. At one point during their long history, the brewery sold ice cream. That’s actually how the brewery made it through prohibition.
It’s been 30+ years since the ice cream has been sold on shelves. The company has just announced the frosty treat’s return in 2014. The caveat? None of the flavors are modeled after beer. The ice cream division will carry the Yuengling family name only, but will be separate from the brewery.
