When Hurricane Helene devastated Asheville’s brewing community in September 2024, NoDa Brewing didn’t just send thoughts and prayers—they sent trucks loaded with supplies and fired up their kettles to brew over 1,000 barrels of Hi-Wire’s beer while the mountain city’s water system remained offline. Now, the two North Carolina breweries are releasing Odyssey IPA on March 27, hazy collaboration that really encapsulates their partnership. Proceeds from the beer will go to ARCHR (Asheville Regional Coalition for Home Repair), which supports low-income families that are still rebuilding from the hurricane’s flood and destruction.
Odyssey IPA showcases a whole Dolcita, Citra, and Mosaic hops alongside Lupocore and Prysma advanced brewing products from John I. Haas. Lupocore is an enhanced hop pellet introduced in 2025 as a part of Haas’s Lupo Series, while Prysma is a hop derived liquid product giving beers long lasting hop aroma and flavor. It’s a setup for a really great hazy IPA.
Haas, Country Malt Group, and Hart Print all donated ingredients and printing, helping bring this collaboration to Asheville and beyond.
“NoDa had our backs when things were pretty dark around here. Getting to brew this beer with them and raise money for folks still rebuilding, that’s what the beer community is all about.” Peter Batinski, Head Brewer Hi-Wire Brewing
After losing 1.3 million unfilled cans, 200,000 filled cans, and weeks of production capacity when floodwaters submerged Asheville’s River Arts District facility, Hi-Wire’s survival depended on NoDa’s contract brewing of Hi-Pitch, Lo-Pitch, and Hazy Pitch IPAs.
Odyssey IPA launches March 27 in four-packs of 16-ounce cans and on draft at both breweries’ taprooms plus retailers across Hi-Wire’s eight-state distribution footprint.
