Zymurgy’s Best Beers In America 2012

Zymurgy Magazine, the official Journal of the American Homebrewer’s Association just published their results from the reader’s rankings.  For the 4th year in a row, Russian River’s Pliny The Elder  takes 1st place. Bell’s Two Hearted and Dogfish Head 90 Minute aren’t far behind for best IPA in the country.  Interestingly, the harder to find Pliny The Younger ranked at the other end of the list, at #48.

Avery Oud Floris Releases 6/24

#12 in Avery Brewing’s Barrel-Aged Series arrives on June 24th, following on the heels of Recolte Sauvage, and Muscat d’ Amor.  Aged in Bourbon, Cabernet Sauvignon,Chardonnay, and Rum barrels.

…In honor of our old friend and chief consultant of our new brewery, we christened this Flanders-esque dark brown sour Oud Floris. We’re not sure any will make it out of the state, and release party will go down on June 24th at 4pm. Op uw gezondheid! (Dutch for: To Your Health!)

Style:  Flanders Oud Bruin (Barrel Aged)
Yeast: Saccharomyces, Lactobacillus, Pediococcus, Brettanomyces

Availability: 12 oz bottles. 225 case yield.
Arrival: 6/24/12

Avery Gets Brewery Expansion Green Light

Good news for Avery Brewing.  The city of Boulder and the Boulder Planning Board has green lighted the $27 million, 95,922 square foot project.   Ground breaking could be as early as August 2012.

Some of the concern regarding the expansion was because the potential construction site bordered Boulder Country Day School.  The expansion would bring increased truck traffic, and alcohol consumption close to the school

Avery Nineteen Debuts Today

Avery Brewing turns 19 years old  this year.  Following release tradition, they will release Nineteen – a tripel.

Celebrating nineteen years of brewing could kind of get overlooked what with the big 2-0 coming.  But we will never forget 2011!  Not only was it our largest growth year ever, but we also began designing our new brewing facility!  In excited anticipation of 20 years and the new brewery, we concocted this very traditional, yeast driven, dry and fruity Tripel.  Thanks to those folks (you know who you are) who have been such an integral part of our longevity and success!

Taps today 5/4/12, at 5 pm, at the brewery.  Look for it in your local markets soon.

Avery Oud Floris Barrel Aged Sour BrownAvery Brewing’s 12th release in their barrel aged series – Oud Floris Barrel Aged Sour Brown.  This beer is a sour brown ale blended from 3 different barrels.

Dank u wel for all the help, Gast! It’s been very relevant! An expansive Flanders-esque blend as complex, assertive, and infectious as its namesake – although quite a bit more acidic and less injury prone. Proost!

Style:  Flanders Oud Bruin (Barrel Aged)
Yeast: Saccharomyces, Lactobacillus, Pediococcus, Brettanomyces

Availability: 12 oz bottles. 225 case yield. Bottled early April

Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, flaked oats, Belgian candy sugar, hops and an infamous Belgian yeast.
