Avery Brewing turns 18 years old this year. That means it’s time again for the brewery’s anniversary beer. Looks like the saison is back for 2011. Last year’s style was a schwarzbier, while 16th was also a saison. This years dry-hopped Eighteen boasts 5 yeasts!

For this year’s celebratory brew, we decided to focus on the characteristics that certain yeasts bring to the party. Each of the five Belgian yeasts selected adds it’s own unique aspect to the flavor and aroma of this saison. The hefty addition of rye helps dry this beauty out and lends another spicy component to the flavor. And for the added fun, we subtly dry-hopped it too!
