Sierra Nevada’s newest offering Ruthless Rye has hit shelves. Ruthless is an IPA brewed with rye malt as a replacement for Glissade.
Ruthless IPA is brewed with this rustic grain for refined flavors — combining the peppery spice of rye and the bright citrusy flavors of whole-cone hops to create a complex ale for the tumultuous transition to Spring.
Style: IPA, brewed with rye malt
Availability: 12oz bottles, draft. Seasonal.
Taste Expectations: Spicy rye, mixes with pine & floral hop notes

Ugh. I tired both and while Ruthless Rye is rated so highly, Glissade is much better (yes, it is just a session beer, but Ruthless Rye tastes like a failed amateur brewer experiment)
RIP Glissade. Long live Ruthless Rye! I like it.
I never tried Glissade, I don’t know what type beer Glissade was, but every time I saw it I thought it looked like it was a wheat beer so I avoided it. I strongly prefer IPA’s and Ruthless Rye is a good one indeed.
