Mikkeller & Alesmith to Partner on New Brewery

Mikkel Borg Bjergsø, better known at gypsy brewer Mikkeller, is forming a partnership with San Diego, California’s Alesmith Brewing Company.

Initial details indicate the Alesmith and Mikkeller will be forming a new partnership, creating a brewery (not yet named). The new brewhouse will be located in a building that Alesmith currently owns.

This isn’t the first time Mikkeller used this approach. Bjergsø also owns Warpigs, a Copenhagen brewery with Indiana based Three Floyds. Additionally, Bjergsø/Mikkeller owns Mikkeller Bar in San Francisco, California.

The new brewery could be operational as of Summer, 2015. Mikkeller currently produces various offerings for the United States at craft breweries across the country. No word if that will continue after the new brewery is online.

You almost saw this coming, as Alesmith & Mikkeller recently released a collaboration, Beer Geek Speedway.

Beer Street Journal has reached out to Alesmith and Mikkeller for more information.
