Expansion For Lazy Magnolia

Lazy Magnolia Brewing (Kiln, MS) is expanding 4 fold.  Lazy just received a $740,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  The interest free loan can be repaid over the next 10 years.  This is part of a $3 million dollar expansion occuring over the next 4 years.

Lazy Magnolia Brewing was started by Leslie & Mark Henderson in 2003, with their first batches by 2005.  The two are engineers that got into brewing with a beer kit at Christmas.  In the first year, Lazy lost 80% of their business thanks to Katrina.  The brewery has steadily grown since.  By the end of this year, Lazy plans to max out at 15,000 barrels.  At the end of the expansion, total output will max at 50,000 barrels.  Expansion will triple employment (16 to 50) and double the building size.

Lazy Magnolia currently distributes to Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, and some of Georgia. Next up, North & South Carolina and Texas.

Beers include:  Southern Pecan (brewed with LA pecans), Southern Gold (local honey), Jefferson Stout (w/ sweet potatoes.) [ClarionLedger]
