Forbes Magazine recently published their list of billionaires and wouldn’t you know a craft brewer made the cut! Dick Yuengling, who bought out his father in 1985, was listed with a net worth of $1.3 billion. When he purchased the company Yuengling was barely making $6 million a year and were counting their barrel production in the thousands.
28 years later Yuengling boasts 2.5 million barrels a year and revenues in the millions while distributing to just 14 states. The company very stubbornly chooses to remain private regardless of competition and acquisition offers. Anyone who’s been to the Yuengling brewery will tell you that they do anything but boast their wealth and are some of the most humble people you will meet.
