Martin House Kafkaesque, An Ambitious Beer
Martin House Brewing Co. is releasing a new seasonal that they have dubbed the “most ambitious and confounding beer” they’ve ever produced. This is Martin House Kafkaesque.
To make sense of the beer, you need to understand Franz Kafka. Most well known for works like Metamorphosis, and The Trial, a lot of his works carry themes of alienation, and psychological brutality. The existential writer’s stories are chaotic, and sometimes takes a few readings to really understand his approach. Makes a bit of sense when you under Martin House’s new beer.
Kafkaesque is Imperial, Smoked, Black, Rye, Oaked, Raspberry IPA. Surreal, detached, confusing. Franz wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Martin House Kafkaesque will be available on January 15th, at The Pour House in Fort Worth, Texas. First tasters get the unique glass below.

La Cumbre Red Ryeot Coming to Cans. Special Thanks to Sierra Nevada
La Cumbre Red Ryeot will soon be available in cans. The New Mexico based craft brewery is pretty excited to launch this new offering. In order to do so, the brewery needed to jump a legal hurdle.
Jeff Erway of La Cumbre discovered that Sierra Nevada had already made a beer called Red Ryeot (part of the ongoing Beer Camp Series). Being hooked on the name, Jeff reached out to Sierra’s founder Ken Grossman to inquire about the trademark. Unfortunately, Sierra had already applied for the mark.
Thinking the name was dead in the water, an email arrived from Grossman’s legal team abandoning the mark for La Cumbre. Red Ryeot was officially theirs. A fantastic example of how craft breweries work together.
La Cumbre Red Ryeot is a red rye beer that the brewery has been working on over the past few months. Soon to be available in 16oz cans.
Style: Rye Beer
Availability: 16oz Cans, Draft. Year round offering.

Founders Black Rye to Rejoin Lineup
Founders Brewing Co. (Grand Rapids, MI) will re-introduce Black Rye in 2015. The last time this offering was available was in 2006.
Black Rye is a dark ale brewed with a lot of rye malt, and hopped with a blend of German and American hops.
“Because of how quickly the craft beer enthusiast community has grown, most people drinking craft beer and even Founders beer today have never tried Black Rye,” said Dave Engbers, co-founder and vice president of brand and education at Founders Brewing Co. “Officially, this beer is a re-introduction. But for most, it’s a new Founders beer.”
Founders Black Rye will be available in 12oz/ 4 packs starting in January. It will precede the April release of Rubaeus in the seasonal lineup.
Style: Rye Beer
Package: 12oz Bottles Draft. ERP $10.99.
