Gordon Biersch Launches Swing Top 750ml Program

Gordon Biersch IPBGordon Biersch has announced the addition of a 750ml program.   A series of brews, limited to 4,000 cases or less.

Imperial Pilsner Brau (IPB) Is First Up.

“This is a beer unlike any other made before,” says Gordon. “We designed the IPB to pique the curiosity of the IPA drinker, and we hope to capture their palate preference with the unique, authentic flavor that is completely its own. This concept is all about innovation and beer creativity.”

Swing Top Bottles Imported From Germany

The brewing process takes place at the San Jose brewery and is topped off by hand with the addition of historic German swing-top enclosure, which dates back to the late 1800s.

IPB is an intensely-hopped, bold Pilsner that emphasizes the noble hops from central Europe: Hallertau, Tettnang, Spalt and Saaz. Brewed in accordance with the Germany Purity Law of 1516, it is naturally carbonated and unfiltered. IPB is 6.5% alcohol and 50 IBU.

Cigar City Patio Pils To Return As Summer Seasonal

Cigar City Patio PilsThose with a taste for light, easy drinking summer beers, get on board with Patio Pils.  Cigar City’s pre-prohibition style lager will be returning soon in draft and bottle offerings.

Patio Pils is a pre-prohibition recipe lager with a modern twist. We improve on the traditional recipe made popular by German immigrants to the US during the mid 1800’s, by replacing six-row barley and cluster hops with premium two-row pilsner malt and noble hop varietals. These improvements yield a lager which expertly balances malt sweetness with hop bitterness. As in the classic pre-prohibition recipes we add flaked maize, which imparts delightful fresh corn notes.  Patio Pils is an exceptional warm weather beer that stays true to its craft beer roots, bringing massive flavor concentration and generous hop aroma and taste to every sip.

Sam Adams Noble Pils Promoted To Year Round

I was surprised when so many people seemed upset that Sam Adams Noble Pils was seemingly retired.  Alpine Spring Lager is taking its place as the spring seasonal.  As it turns out, yes Noble Pils is NOT the spring seasonal anymore, Pils has been promoted to year round status.

Noble Pils uses Bohemian floor malted barley and all 5 noble hops.  It won in a landslide in the brewery’s 2009 Beer Lovers Choice Selection.  This pilsner will return full time in Late February, 2012.

A Humdinger is a very special breed of Magic Hat. Sometimes in 750ml bottles, sometimes only on tap at the Artifactory, Humdingers appear when our brewers want them to appear. Beers like Braggot, Thumbsucker and Chaotic Chemistry are all of the Humdinger species.
They’re of a single batch and are very limited. But it’s worth the suspense if you can get some on your tongue.

Style: Imperial Pilsner

Southern Tier Bottles Trashy Pils, 2X Milk Stout & More

Southern Tier Brewing (Lakewood, NY) is currently cranking out 10,000 bottles of their new 2x Milk Stout an hour right now.    It will hit ST’s full distribution network soon.

A little over a week ago, the first bottles of Eurotrash Pils rolled of the line.  Meet the first bottle below.

Other Southern Tier as we head into 2012:  An Oak Aged Pumking was just made available this month.  The beer geek haters of Pumpking hate this one too.  Those lovers of the original rejoice at this new edition.

Expect and Oak Aged Backburner soon.

Be on the lookout for Matador Weizenbock Ale coming in 2012.

Warlock Cream Stout has just been released on draft recently.

You should see 12oz bottle treatments of Unearthly IPA, and Iniquity soon.

Also, seasonal favorite Choklot is back.  Dessert is served.
