Hoppin’ Frog’s “Froggy Style” Oktoberfest

Hoppin' Frog Oktoberfest

Hoppin’ Frog looks to get into the fest spirit with Oktoberfest Froggy Style Lager. Brewed in the German tradition of fest beers.

Smooth, hearty Oktoberfest lager beers have been made for centuries to welcome the harvest season. In Bavaria, brewers would save their best grain & hops to brew their Oktoberfests for celebrating the coming of Fall and the start of the new harvest. This cherished tradition is captured in Hoppin’ Frog’s rich and hearty amber-colored Oktoberfest lager. Taste the tradition!

Surly Cans Fest, Brews Wet [PICS]

Surly Brewing (Minnesota) is busy packing Fest, and brewing Surly Wet. Wet is a popular “wet-hopped” beer made with simcoe hops picked from the vine in Yakima Valley and added to the brew in 36 hours.

About SurlyFest:

SurlyFest is brewed with three different types of Rye and a single variety of American Hops. Malted Rye, Flaked Rye, and Crystal Rye impart a distinctive biscuit flavor to the lush Vienna Malt body, and dry-hopping with Sterling Hops adds bright, floral hop aromas. A single hop, dry-hopped, rye lager bier? Ja!

About Wet:

4,800 lbs of hops picked fresh in Washington and shipped to Minnesota immediately. We brewed this beer three days later. This is a hop-forward beer, dry with subdued malt flavors.

Look for both of these offerings in Late Sept-October, 2012.

Left Hand Oktoberfest Returns To All Markets This Year

Left Hand Brewing’s Oktoberfest Märzen Lager was only distributed to Colorado. In 2012 Oktoberfest will return to the 25 states in the brewery’s footprint.

Left Hand’s Oktoberfest is a märzen lager brewed true to style, giving tribute to its German roots. Drawing from his experiences of brewing for HRH Prinz Luitpold of Barvaria, Head Brewer Ro Guenzel has developed a complex yet balanced Oktoberfest that has become an annual cult favorite. Pouring a brilliant copper in color, the märzen lager entices the imbiber with notes of warm biscuit reminiscent of home and fall tradition. Oktoberfest begins with the toasty sweetness of the malt up front while the noble pedigree hops allow for a dry crisp finish.

Style: Oktoberfest
Hops: Magnum, Spalter Select
Malts: Munich & Pilsner

Availability: 12oz bottles, Draft

6.6% ABV, 24 IBUs

SweetWater Danktoberfest Joining Dank Tank Series

SweetWater Brewing Company (Atlanta, GA) gets into the fest spirit with this next edition from the Dank Tank. Introducing Danktoberfest. The Dank Tank Series is a sudsy line up of one off brews from the biggest brewery in the southeast.

While Krones was working on SweetWater’s brewhouse, which they were 3 months behind schedule on (that part is true), one of their sour kraut engineers drove a gabelstapler over Mr. Dank’s toe and broke it. Mr. Dankenschnitzel jumped a flug to Krones HQ in Deustchland to pick up his large siedlung check. Looking to quell his T Pain, Dank beelined it to Oktoberfest in Munchen and into the arms of a friendly farulein who quickly uber serviert him. Stumbling blindly, Herr Dankenschnitzel, laden in lederhosen and longingly looking for a lovely loo, humpelte into the Bitterburger Brewery to drain the main vein. Unable to hold it any longer, Danken Guender feuer abegespritzt all over the control panel, short circuiting their infamous Oktoberfest bier. The beer no longer fit the rhinobutt purity law, so Hans and Franz kicked his arsch out of the mother land and told Danky doodle dandy to take that mischmasch back to SübWasser with him.

Style: Oktoberfest
Availability: 22oz bombers, Draft
