New Belgium “Shift” Hits Shelves

New Belgium’s newest can offering is now hitting shelves.  Shift Pale Lager is ready for your hot weather consumption.  Shift is a light bodied lager brewed with Nelson Sauvin hops from New Zealeand.  Those hops give you a nice tropical, fruity flavor – much like the Sauvignon wine grape lends to wine.  Nelson hops really shine in a lager.

Shift is very approachable at just 5% ABV.  It is solely available in 16 oz tallboys, a flavorful pint of lager you can take anywhere.  New Belgium just bought a spiffy new canning line (selling the old one to Cigar City Brewing in Tampa, FL).  Shift is joined by a few more tallboy counterparts – Fat Tire, and Ranger IPA.  Cans are really blowing up in the U.S..

Style: Lager
Hops: Target, Nelson Sauvin, Liberty, Cascade
Malts:  Pale, Munich, C-80

Taste Expectations: Nice crisp malt flavor, light hops, floral & tropical.  Refreshing.
Availability:
16oz cans (only), Year round.

5% ABV

Half Acre Lager Returns

Half Acre Brewing revives their lager this week….

On Friday we open the Half Acre time capsule and pull out an old battle axe, Half Acre Lager.

In years past, this beer was taken through the ringer of inexperience. Sadly, this beer was pistol whipped and rolled by goons.
However, in the end when we were brewing it at our brewery for draft sales, it was a lager to be respected. Unfortunately, we soon abandoned it as a perennial offering because the lagering time was killing us. A glimpse at what could’ve been.

So with a tip of the hat to nostalgia we dusted off the cob webs and laid down some serious lager tracks to offer you, Half Acre Lager, as it always should’ve been. Clean, crisp and noodling your hot spots with quenching cold power. Come take a spin over to our brewery this Friday to extinguish your week with this throwback cool. Growler fills only. $13 fills / $17 with growler.

Style: Lager
Availability: Draft only
Arrival: Week of March 22nd, 2012

Cigar City Hotter Than Helles Lager will join the brewery’s new canned lineup this year.  Helles has only been available on draft before the can plans.

Our Munich Lager is a nod to the thirst quenching lagers of Germany. Our Helles has a sweet malt expression that is balanced by floral bitterness from the use of German Hallertaur Mittelfruh hops. A very refreshing beer that will also entice you by its subtle complexity and drinkability

Style: Lager
Availability: Draft, 12 oz cans
Arrival (Cans): TBA, 2012
