Flavor Profile:
Aged for eighteen months in fresh Cabernet Sauvignon wine barrels, Dihos Dactylion features a primary fermentation using a proprietary blend of saison yeasts, a secondary fermentation of our house brettanomyces wild yeast strain, along with lactobacillus and pediococcus bacteria added to sour things up. Dihos Dactylion bursts with aggressive aromas of red wine and a touch of brett; delightfully sour to the taste, initial lactic acid flavors hit high in the cheekbones before transitioning to complex layers of soft fruit, oaky-tannins and red wine.

Full Sail Brewing kicks off February with the release of Black Gold, an imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels. Black Gold is part Full Sail’s Brewmaster Reserve Series.
The first of the bottles have been released at the Full Sail Tasting Room in Hood River, Oregon, with more bottles being distributed around the state. If this beer is as good as it sounds, it might not get far out of Oregon.
Commercial Description: A hearty brew that is black as night with a strong roasted malt character and a full body. After its initial release in January 2010, our Imperial Stout was aged for a full year in Bourbon casks from Kentucky.
A little info from Shelton Brothers, U.S. Importer of Mikkeller, another edition of their recent Chipotle Porter. This one spent some time in Speyside Whisky barrels.
Expect smokey flavors to go along with all that pepper spice.

In 2011, 16th Anniversary kicks off Red Brick’s new “Brick Mason” series of 12oz/ 4pks. The first of 4 editions released this year.

Insanity Is made by aging our perfectly balanced Blithering Idiot Barleywine in oak bourbon casks. This incredible combination creates a melange of flavors from rich malts, raisons, and dates to oak, vanilla, and bourbon.
Style: Barleywine (Barrel aged) 11% ABV
Heresy This is an incredibly intriguing ale is made by aging our Old Heathen Imperial Stout in oak barrels that were used for making fine Kentucky bourbon! The result is an extraordinary, dark, and mysterious stout whose very essence has been enhanced. The aroma is filled with vanilla, cocoa, and roasted coffee beans.

Commercial Description: It all started with the Big Bad Barley Wine. Then came Denmark’s strongest beer Big Worse Barley Wine which is now released in a barrel aged edition. Big Worse Barrel Aged is at the top of evolution. It does not nor should it get any crazier than this. With an ABV of 19,1 this beer is about as strong as it gets without freeze distillation. Lots of sugar, hops, barrel and alcohol. In other words, a beer for pirates.
