Hi-Wire Brewing (Asheville, NC) has commenced the process of building a new production facility in downtown Asheville. This marks the first full scale expansion for the craft brewery, which opened in June, 2013.
The current location maxes out around 4,000 barrels (124,000) gallons annually. The new facility will focus on year-round offerings and seasonals, and brings on board 17,000 extra barrels of capacity a year. Ultimately, the facility could produce 50,000 barrels annually.
“The reception to all of our beers to-date has been fantastic. With 300-400% growth in our first year and a half, having been awarded the Best New Brewery in NC for 2013 by Ratebeer, and having won the most medals at the 2014 NC Brewer’s Cup, we can’t wait to have the ability to make more beer and more styles of beer. So, thank you, Asheville, and thank you, North Carolina!”
The capital investment in the expansion is reported around $3 million dollars. Once the new facility is up and running, the currently location can focus on small batch beers, and short run seasonals. The new production facility targets a mid-2015 grand opening.
To keep up with demand, the brewery has already contracted Kiln, Mississippi’s Lazy Magnolia for production assistance.
