Dick Cantwell, a co-founder of Elysian Brewing Company has resigned from Anheuser-Busch.
In January of this year, Elysian Brewing was acquired by Anheuser-Busch. In the weeks after the purchase, Cantwell said that the outcome of the talks, and acquisition, was not the outcome he had hoped for. This discord between his partners and Cantwell as these events have unfolded have made it so the working relationship has to be cut, a source close to the brewery tells Beer Street Journal.
One thing that is important to note, and this might set the tone for Cantwell’s future endeavors – is that he has mentioned numerous times after the purchase, that “I am a craft brewer.” That might say all you need to know with this bit of news.
The brewery (now under A-B control) did not offer a statement to Beer Street Journal.
