Palate Restructuring Now In Bottles

New Albanian Thunderfoot

New Albanian Brewing (New Albany, IN) is releasing Thunderfoot in bottles.  According to NA, the current recipe includes dried tart cherries, bing cherries in oak, and aged a year.  The label doesn’t mention the aging or additions, in either case – a highly prized imperial stout.

Label:
There can be no doubt: Thunderfoot actively renounces the gentle tweak, the mild revision and the imperceptible hint.  Thunderfoot neither seeks to make a plausible case for adaptive reuse, nor can be bothered with the nuances of historical preservation.  Thunderfoot puts its elongated foot squarely down, advocating your palate’s restructuring the old fashioned way – whole cloth, complete, irresistible, certain and inevitable. 

Style: Russian Imperial Stout
Hops:  Northern Brewer, Willamette
Malts: Simpsons Golden Promise, Roast Barley, Dark Crystal, Flaked Oats
Yeast: House Ale
Adjuncts: Sugar

Boulevard’s Newest Smokestack: Nommo

Boulevard Nummo Dubbel

Boulevard Brewing (Kansas City, MO) is adding a Belgian inspired offering to their Smokestack lineup this year – Nommo. The series – so named by the 19th century stack that is above the original brewery has another Belgian counterpart – Long Strange Tripel.  Nommo is brewed with molasses and spices.

Label:

Dubbel is an ale style developed in the Middle Ages by Belgian Trappists, a style enjoyed today by a growing number of enthusiasts worldwide.  So for so good, you say but what about Nommo? The Nommo are ancestral spirits worshiped by the Dogon tribe of the West African nation of Mali meaning “to make one drink.”  Seriously.  Our Nommo Dubbel has a brilliant deep amber color and a sweet caramel malt profile.  This ale showcases the coriander, cinnamon, and star anise used in the kettle, complementing them with clove and banana notes contributed by the Belgian yeast

Style: Dubbel

White Birch Brewing Turns 2

White Birch Brewing (Hooksett, NH) turns 2 this year.  The  brewery got underway in 2009 in small 20 gallon batches.  As White Birch has been growing, they have been expanding to a 7 barrel system (depending on how many turns, could produce up to 800-1000 barrels a year.)

Celebrating 2, the brewery is creating a 1,200 bottling run of 2 Anniversary Ale.  A Belgian strong dark ale to be enjoyed now, or saved for future special occasions.

At White Birch Brewing, our goal is to create great beer for the enthusiast.  Each batch is brewed and bottled by hand at our brewery in Hooksett, New Hampshire.

Rich mahogany color with ruby highlights, we offer  you our second anniversary beer.  This oak aged Belgian style dark ale is one to enjoy now, or savor for years to come.  We feel this is one small way we can show support of our dream.

Crafted in small quantities to be savored for any occasion.  We hope you enjoy this unique beer.

It’s  great to see someone’s brewing dreams realized, even if the beer is hard to find where you are.  Also, the brewery is adding a “Pilot Project” experimenting with some new beers/styles.  New experiments include Smoked Stout, Birch Smoked Stout, and Farmhouse Red.  The beers are small batches, around 500 per bottling run.

Struise will launch a new beer in about 2 months. 12% alc. Vol, 250 IBU, Black Indian Pale Ale, a freaking Imperial Black IPA… called S.H.I.T. This beer will be present at Mes’s wedding for quality control 🙂 instead of a missing Pannepot keg :-))))

Redhook Turns The Big 3-0

Redhook Brewing was founded in 1981 in Seattle, Washington by Paul Shipman and Gordon Bowker.  Since the brewery’s inception, Redhook has grown to be distributed in 48 states.  2011 marks Redhook’s 30th year, marked with a  special release.  Extra Special Ale celebrates their big 3-0.

Label:

A highly modified version of ESB that replicates the flavor profile of Redhook Ale in the Early 80s, lovingly referred to by Seattle locals as “Banana Beer.” A Belgian yeast strainis used to create these spicy banana notes. This special brew has a deep red color, bold hops, and rich malty body.

Availability: 22oz bottles, some draft.
