21st Amendment Fireside Chat Back For Another Season

(October 11, 2011) — The 21st Amendment Brewery today announced the re-release of their holiday seasonal beer in a can,Fireside Chat Winter Spiced Ale. Fireside Chat hearkens back to the Golden Age of radio when the Great Depression held the country in a pincer grip, and people longed for better times. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s fireside chats, which often began with the words, “Good evening, friends,” were hugely popular and his message was one of reassurance and hope.

Fireside Chat is a subtle twist on the traditional seasonal brew. We begin with a rich, dark ruby brown, English-style ale and then improvise with spices until we know we have a beer worth sharing with the nation. During Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, Fireside Chat will brighten the faces of those who enjoy it, near the hearth or at the table. Its subtle blend of spices balances the 7.9% alcohol by volume malty ale and will make this a foodie’s favorite, as it pairs perfectly with holiday meals.

“It’s brewed to be a beer to share and to celebrate the warmth and aromas and flavors of the season,” says co-founder and Brewmaster Shaun O’Sullivan who personally selects a special blend of spices for the beer each year, based on the moment’s inspiration.

“We have some amazing fans of this beer and last year we even won a gold medal in one national holiday ale competition,” co-founder Nico Freccia adds. “So we’re really excited about having this beer back again.”

Fireside Chat was named the Gold Award Winner of BrewClick.com’s 2010 Holiday Craft Brew Shootout.

Fireside Chat’s can and six-pack graphics feature FDR relaxing by the fire and having a chat with an elf. The retro style is familiar and inviting and conjures up Norman Rockwell images of American families gathering around a big boxy radio or the fireplace (with a wry twist). We hope you enjoy this special video Fireside Chat greeting this year from co-founders Freccia and O’Sullivan.

In the tradition of the holidays, Fireside Chat is available now through December in cans and on draft at quality bars and stores in all 15 of 21st Amendment’s current distribution territories, including CA, OR, WA, AK, ID, MN, OH, MA, NY, NJ, DC, MD, PA, VA, and GA. For up-to-date availability, events and promotions, visit 21st Amendment’s website, www.21st-Amendment.com.

About 21st Amendment Brewery
Who the heck are these guys? Hey, we’re Nico and Shaun. We live for great beer. In 1920, there were thousands of breweries across America making unique handcrafted beer. The passage of Prohibition wiped out this great culture. After thirteen years without beer, the states ratified the 21st Amendment, ending Prohibition in America. At the 21st Amendment Brewery, we celebrate the right to brew beer, the freedom to be innovative, and the obligation to have fun.

16 Mile Brewery Delivers A New 12 Ounce Face To The World

16 Mile Brewery Delivers A New 12 Ounce Face To The World

Georgetown, DE (October 2011) – 16 Mile Brewing Company will now offer its beer in a 12 ounce brown bottle 6 pack format instead of the 22 ounce single aluminum bottle. Now celebrating over 2 years in the handmade craft beer industry, this change comes as part of a lot of exciting changes here at the brewery in Georgetown, Delaware. The first is the addition of our Inlet I.P.A. to our core beer selection of Blues’ Golden, Amber Sun, and Old Court (a dark Pale Ale). They have cool interesting labels and 6 pack holders–each that tell the story and influence behind the name. We also have a great new full color mother carton that looks like the walls of all the old buildings around this part of the world. We noticed when we stacked a small display for our website photo, it looked like a stack of bricks so we have given that fun nickname to the displays going up at package stores.

The next effort in advancing the 16 Mile story is a great selection of support material to help educate and reward the great customers we have. We have new custom designed tap handles that looks like a brick, two new glasses to drink from–one of which is an old school Schooner glass that weighs 3 lbs, new brick-colored t-shirts and caps, and below an example of our new 20 x 24 tin metal sign:

We even have a couple new sayings which are on our new POS as well as the mother carton: “16 Miles to good beer”, and “Because it’s 16 Miles to anywhere” which helps to tell the story behind our name of the brewery and our town.

We have added Claus Hagelman to our team as the Sales & Marketing Director to spearhead this new energy. He brings over 15 years in the biz to help us out in telling our story to all who will listen.

Other news–we are breaking ground soon for the doubling of the brewery to handle all the new growth. This will not only extend the number of tanks and cold storage, but will give us a large new bar & retail area for our customers to visit. We have made commitment to grow our brewery to 10 fold over next few years, we are currently a 2,500 barrel annual rate.

Last, if you are not familiar with this brewery, we have updated our website over the last week to get more info about us and all the changes going on here. 16 Mile is a classic session-styled brewery started 2 years ago in a 100 year old barn. The brewery does have a warming hearth feel about it. This is is part of the reason for the brick theme that runs through our story. These smooth ales are not redefining by nature, they are just well crafted–easy to drink and full of flavor. The kind of beer that is like a friend, you can sit and enjoy at your favorite tavern or at home with a good movie. The goal of the brewery is to only grow to be a 30,000 barrel regional brewery that supplies Delaware and the neighboring states with our brews. We are starting on that great journey now with our new 6 packs and a great block of loyal fans and friends.

Monacacy Brewing Opening In Frederick, MD

Frederick, MD (October 2011) – Frederick, MD’s reputation for beer production will grow substantially in the coming months with the opening of the Monocacy Brewing Company, LLC. Phil Bowers, managing member of the newly formed company announced that it will establish a 15,000 s.f. brewery and operating headquarters at 1781 N. Market Street in Frederick. He expects the brewery to open in November 2011.

Bowers, a businessman whose downtown restaurants include the brewpub Brewer’s Alley, has been retailing his craft beers on a small scale throughout Maryland for the past five years. “There is a tremendous market for craft beer,” said Bowers, who notes that the number of U.S. breweries has grown from approximately 250 to 1,760 during the past 20 years. Bowers says that over 1,715 of the 1,760 are craft breweries. “Spirit shops that specialize in craft beer sales utilize some 75-80% of their dedicated beer floor space to merchandise craft beer.”

“Just like wine connoisseurs who explore the nuances of regional grapes, so, too do fans of craft beer, who want to enjoy beer styles created with locally-grown ingredients,” says Bowers, “Local origination of ingredients will be one of Monocacy’s major brewing initiative.” Tom Flores, who has served as brewmaster at Brewer’s Alley since 1997, will oversee operations at the brewery.

Named after the river that flows through Frederick County, the Monocacy Brewing Company will hire some 25 employees in time and have the ability to produce up to 20,000 barrels a year when operating at full capacity. Monocacy will brew its own lines of beer as well as Brewer’s Alley’s retailed beers, and others upon request.

After studying dozens of potential brewery sites, Bowers chose the circa 1930s Market Street Extended factory building that originally housed the Ebert Ice Cream Company. “We all liked the idea of reusing and adapting an existing property — as opposed to building anew on a raw parcel of land,” he said. “It was a perfect spot because the building was originally designed and used for factory food production.”

Bowers plans to renovate a front section of the building that originally served as an ice cream parlor for use as a tasting room and retail shop. He will also make improvements to the façade of the building and restore the property’s once beautiful landscaping that includes a large fountain and vintage streetlamps. “The property holds personal memories for many local residents,” said Bowers

The Flying Barrel, a Frederick-based retailer of ingredients and supplies for beer and wine making since 1980 will move to the brewery and occupy 3,000 s.f. Bob Frank, owner of The Flying Barrel said that his relocation is a good business move. “Phil and I share a lot of the same customers. They’ll be sampling and buying Phil’s beers as well as purchasing supplies for home brewing.” Another benefit, Frank says, is having brewing experts next door. “My customers love to talk with professional brewers. This will provide them with an even greater opportunity to do so.”

For more information on the Monocacy Brewing Company, contact Bowers at 301-631-0671.

Lucid Brewing To Open In Minnesota

(Minnetonka, MN) — In one of the more anticipated business openings of the year, upstart Lucid Brewing has cleared the key hurdle to open the first production microbrewery in Minnetonka. In doing so, Lucid joins a select few, including Surly Brewing, who have catapulted to national prominence and have made Minnesota a definitive hotbed for “craft” beers and brewing.

“The Twins Cities have become an industry magnet due to the success of Surly, who have pretty much capitalized on their relationship with Brooklyn Park to create some innovative ways of selling their brand. We think it’s time the Southwest Suburbs had their own flagship brewery. And what better place to locate than in Minnetonka, where beers and lakeside enjoyment go hand in hand,” waxed owner Jon Messier.

Lucid Brewing which began in the basements and garages of Jon Messier and Eric Biermann will go from home brewing to full scale microbrewery now that they have received their federal permits to produce and sell alcohol. The brewery is currently under construction with an estimated completion date of early October. The duo will still require their state and city certificates, which partially hinged on the federal permit, but are not anticipating any delays to their early-Fall production schedule.

Lucid Brewing will launch with two craft beers aimed at a broad range of beer drinkers. The lighter of the two beers called AIR, will feature a uniquely fruity aroma, reminiscent of mangoes and key-limes, and a moderately light body with a crisp finish. The second brand called CAMO, is classified as a Double Imperial Pale Ale for its overzealous hop and malt character. At 9% alcohol this beer is a throwback to Jon’s and Eric’s homebrewing roots where extreme is norm.

Lucid Brewing plans to produce 2500 barrels annually and has room to expand to 15,000. The brewery plans to release seasonal and experimental beers in addition to its standard line up. More information available at www.LucidBrewing.com.

Full Sail Brewing Company Releases Session Fest for the Holidays

Full Sail Brewing Company Releases Session Fest for the Holidays

Hood River, OR (October 2011) – Full Sail Brewing is excited to announce a new addition to the Session family of beers — Session Fest. It’s a holiday beer that comes in a stubby little bottle, makes a great stocking stuffer, and is the perfect beer to leave by the fireplace for Santa or to share with friends and family who may appreciate an approachable, yet flavorful holiday beer.

“When we decided to brew a special Session for the holidays, we knew right away what color it had to be: Red (and full-bodied). Next, we considered what kind of head it should have. Bright white was the obvious answer. And as for the label? Gotta be green, right? So there you have it. A new Session all decked out for holidays, ready to spread joy and cheer. Happy Holidays to one and all! And have a good Session,” said Irene Firmat, Full Sail’s Founder and CEO.

According to Full Sail Executive Brewmaster, Jamie Emmerson, “Session Fest is a Czech-style strong lager (gotta love the Czechs!) called polotmavé or literally “light dark or semi-dark.” Brewed with 2 Row Pale malt, Munich malt, Caramel malt and Wheat malt, and hopped with a blend of Glaciers and Cascades, Session Fest has a medium-to-full body balancing candy caramel and full malt flavors that are underscored by a spicy hoppiness that provides a nice perfume with citrus and pine overtones and a long clean finish.” 6.2% ABV 26 IBU

“From our Session Lager to our bourbon barrel-aged beers, balance and elegance are our defining brewery characteristics. We don’t brew our beers to win medals, but we are honored when we do,” added Firmat. Since its release in 2005, Session Premium Lager has earned eight gold medals and was recently voted “The Best Craft Lager” by craft beer lovers in a poll conducted by The Full Pint. In 2007 it was named The World’s Best Premium Lager at the World Beer Awards and America’s Best Premium Lager at the 2010 World Beer Awards. Session Black, released in 2009, has since earned 6 gold medals and was named “One of America’s Best Beers” by Men’s Journal Magazine. Both of Full Sail’s Session lagers have truly earned their place at the bar. Not to mention the barbeque. To view a list of Full Sail’s awards visit www.fullsailbrewing.com/awards
