If all goes well, T2 will be open in October.  The brewery is currently located in downtown Harrisburg. (Cross the railroad tracks, you’re there.)  The new space gives Troegs some much needed room to breathe, and the Paxton street location is small.  Hershey will allow for more tours, more capacity, larger taproom/growler space, and giftshop. Smuttynose Steps Closer to Dream Home

Smuttynose Brewing steps ever so closer to their dream home.  If all goes well, the brewery will be breaking ground this fall.  Here’s the rundown/timeline.

The new brewery in Hampton will go forward.  The property in Towle Farm Road location was purchased in 2008, and the site approved by the town.   According to Smutty, the site is “shovel ready.”

Financial plans are being smoothed out as you read this.  Financing will come from owner equity, SBA financing, and small business stimulus loans.  All goes well, ground will be broken this fall, finished by the end of 2012 or early 2013. [SmuttynoseBlog]

Expansion For Lazy Magnolia

Lazy Magnolia Brewing (Kiln, MS) is expanding 4 fold.  Lazy just received a $740,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  The interest free loan can be repaid over the next 10 years.  This is part of a $3 million dollar expansion occuring over the next 4 years.

Lazy Magnolia Brewing was started by Leslie & Mark Henderson in 2003, with their first batches by 2005.  The two are engineers that got into brewing with a beer kit at Christmas.  In the first year, Lazy lost 80% of their business thanks to Katrina.  The brewery has steadily grown since.  By the end of this year, Lazy plans to max out at 15,000 barrels.  At the end of the expansion, total output will max at 50,000 barrels.  Expansion will triple employment (16 to 50) and double the building size.

Lazy Magnolia currently distributes to Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, and some of Georgia. Next up, North & South Carolina and Texas.

Beers include:  Southern Pecan (brewed with LA pecans), Southern Gold (local honey), Jefferson Stout (w/ sweet potatoes.) [ClarionLedger]

Expansion #7 For Thomas Creek

Expansion #7 for Thomas Creek Brewing.  The mentioned they are currently working adding extra room to accommodate

For the seventh time since our inception, Thomas Creek Brewery is expanding!  We are currently brewing at max capacity, and as a result, have ordered three new fermenters, and one new finishing tank.  This new equipment will enable the brewery to expand the Thomas Creek and private label brands.

As part of the growing process, we have three new private label beers in production.  These beers include Hatuey, Monday Night Brewing, and O’Dempsey’s.  Check with your local retailer to find these great brews!

In addition, we are pleased to welcome new hires Ben, Bo, Casey, Danny, John, and Josh to the Thomas Creek team!

2 out of 3 of those breweries are Atlanta based. Monday Night is close to launch, O’Dempsey’s recently changed from contract brewing at Red Brick To Thomas.  More on Hatuey here…

SweetWater Begins Expansion

SweetWater Expansion

SweetWater Brewing has started their huge expansion.  The first steps involved tearing down a neighboring building the brewery purchased to expand.  From 360 Media:

It was a “hoppy” morning for the Atlanta based craft-brewery, SweetWater Brewing Company, as they watched Atlanta Demolition tear down their neighboring building just after 8:30am. “We have the opportunity to expand and grow, but we’re still the same people,” said SweetWater Brewery’s Minister of Propaganda Steve Farace. “The expansion will mean more upgrades and more space to continue serving the community. It’s all about the quality of our beer, and the more beer we can sell in our backyard the better.” Staying true to its environmentally friendly roots, nearly 98% of the building that was destroyed this morning will be recycled.

The expansion will take SweetWater’s capacity from 100,000 to 400,000 barrels per year.  Current output is in the neighborhood of 71,000 barrels.
