Victory Beer Hall Joins South Philly Sports Scene In Two Weeks

Many Philadelphians and people from all over the country have fond memories of time spent at the Spectrum in South Philly.  Among those people are Bill and Ron of Victory Brewing who attended their first concert together at the Spectrum when they went to see Ted Nugent in 1978.  Now the Spectrum is just a memory, but 34 years later Bill and Ron are still very much a part of what used to be the Spectrum (I miss the Spectrum.)

Two weeks from now, at a new sports complex called XFINITY Live!, they will open Victory Beer Hall on the very site where the Spectrum once stood.  Victory Beer Hall will not only have your typical Victory brews, but also some of the specialty brews only served at the brewpub as well as other local Philadelphia craft brews.

Victory Beer Hall will be a completely different experience from the Downingtown brewery.  It will be operated by XFINITY Live! Philadelphia instead of by Victory themselves.  It will be more of a party/social atmosphere with live music and long beer hall style tables, than the neighborhood pub feel that the Chester County location has.  Victory will train all employees and instill the Victory Brewing Company mission in each of them to ensure the same stellar experience at both locations.  Exceptional craft beer remains a top priority at both locations.

Victory Plans 2nd Barrel Aged Beer “Otto In Oak”

Victory Otto In OakWhen Victory Brewing said they were done with Dark Intrigue, it was rumored they would be barrel aging other offerings.  Here’s a pretty obvious clue – Otto.  The brewery released Otto last year – a smoked Belgian style dubbel.  As it looks now, the brewery has intentions of barrel aging (or is already barrel aging) Otto for release in the future.

The spirit of St. Otto of Bamberg inspired us to create a smoky, Belgian-style dubbel ale featuring the beechwood kilned malts of his home.  As we feasted on the deep, exotic flavors within our creation, the German bischop’s siren song once again tempted us.  The whispers of St. Otto’s ghost, combined with our enjoyment of that ale, lured us to go a step further and age our Otto Ale in once- used bourbon barrels.  What has emerged certainly tastes heaven-sent to us!

Style: Dubbel (Barrel Aged)
Availability: 750 ml bottles
Arrival: TBA

8.1% ABV (or higher)

note: The above is tentative.  Subject to change at whim of the brewer, the beer, or the barrel.

Victory Phone App Launches 2/15

Victory Brewing will launch two things that will sure to delight beer lovers.  Eclat Cocoa Lager, and a phone app for Android & iPhone.  The phone will be free of course, and will keep you up to date with news about the brewery, where to find the beers, & more.

“When Ron and I first started Victory Brewing Company, we registered one email address for all business-specific email,” said Bill Covaleski, President and Brewmaster of Victory Brewing Company. “Back then, only serious businesses needed e-mail addresses. What could we possibly need with more than one?”

“I believe we are ready to enter the 21st century now.” Bill said.

Look for the application in the Android & Apple stores around the 2/15.

Wait a minute here. I’m no fan a useless lawsuits, if Victory Brewing had the inclination this one might pan out in their favor.  As you can see from the two logos, there just might just smidge of similarity.  The Voice – another show in a series of talent search shows, aired just after the Super Bowl last Sunday.   Via @VictoryBeer

Victory To Be Among Restaurants At Xfinity Live!

In the space where Philadelphia’s beloved Spectrum once stood (may it rest in peace) there will be a brand new sports/dining/entertainment complex built next year.  For those of you not familiar with the area, this will be right in the middle of all of Philadelphia’s sports complexes – Lincoln Financial Field, Wells Fargo Center, and Citizen’s Bank Park.  Apparently Philly has a thing for banks/financial institutions…

When the plans were unveiled last week it was announced that Victory Brewing Company would be among the restaurants built at Xfinity Live! to be built in the first phase.  The Victory Beer Hall will offer beers and entertainment with beer hall style tables, a stage for live entertainment, and a 2,000 square foot patio with a fire pit and view of the Philly skyline.  The beer hall will feature not only Victory brews, but also other local brews and some national brands as well.  Philadelphians will now have Victory a little closer to home than they used to.  The Grand Opening is set for April 5, 2012.
