Dogfish Head/Victory/Stone Saison Du Buff [Video]

Enjoy the offical 2012 video for the Dogfish Head/Victory/Stone Saison Du Buff collaboration.  This year marks the second release of the beer, that has taken 10 years to be fullyl realized.

Back in 2003, three intrepid craft brewers formed Brewers United for Freedom of Flavor, or BUFF, to bring publicity to their crusade for artfully crafted, flavorful beers. To further the cause, Sam Calagione, Bill Covaleski, and Greg Koch got together in 2010 to brew an audacious collaboration beer enhanced with parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme. Emboldened by the beer’s enthusiastic reception, the BUFF team reconvened in 2012 to brew an updated version with lemon thyme from Stone Farms. And the rest is history…

Maui & Dogfish Head Create Liquid Breadfruit

Beer celebrity and Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione recently traveled to Hawaii (that must have sucked) to collaborate with Maui Brewing Co. The result? Liquid Breadfruit.  Brewed with toasted papaya seeds, and breadfruit.  Breadfruit comes from a flowering tree in the mulberry family, so named for the texture of the cooked fruit.  The flavor is a bit like potatoes. It’s considered a staple fruit in tropical regions.  The yeast was found in a peach farm near Dogfish Head in the first state.  DFH went all scientific on it, and regrew it.

There is actually a good bit of dialogue on the back of the can between Maui’s Garrett Marrero and Sam.  Some highlights – “Millions of Delaware natives lusting fro tropic climes cannot be wrong” – Sam.  “Breadfruit has been a staple crop f0r 3000 years” – Garrett.   And the best –

” I love to cook and toasted papaya seed seemed like another great spice to balance the breadfruit and compliment the tropical flavors of calypso hops and the flavors lent by the philandering Delawareans. It was no small task to harvest all these seeds by hand… but it beats chewing purple corn for weeks on end….” – Garrret

Style: Fruit Beer (w/ papaya seeds, breadfruit)
Availability: 12 oz cans, Draft
Arrival: Purported to debut at GABF in October

8% ABV

note:  The label most assuredly will be in color!

New Hampshire, Georgia: No Postive Contact Box Sets For You

Georgia and New Hampshire will NOT receive Dogfish Head’s newest collaboration Positive Contact.  The Delaware based brewery has stated that New Hampshire and Georgia will be unable to sell the box sets thanks to some legal entanglements.

Positive Contact is not able to be approved in New Hampshire. The box sets are also not able to be sold in Georgia. We are still waiting on (with crossed fingers) approvals from CT, IL, NC, and TX. We are hopeful those four states will come through with an approval and we are holding beer for wholesalers in those four markets. If approvals come through in the next month or so, we will send Positive Contact to those four states.

Don’t be upset with DFH.  Call your state legislature. Find out why their state’s piss poor excuse for beer laws are keeping you from having this beer.
