Uinta Brewing Gets New Logo

Uinta Brewing has unveiled a new logo.   The brewery was founded in 1993, and now uses wind & solar power to run the brewery.  Uinta current distributes to 22 states.

April 20, 2011, Salt Lake City, UT–Uinta (you-in-tah) Brewing Company proudly unveils their new logo, a symbol that closely represents the meaning behind the name “Uinta” and exemplifies character of the company, as well.

To celebrate the uniqueness of its namesake, the new logo depicts a mountain range circumscribed by a compass dial highlighting the East and West coordinates.

The Compass is a tool which represents Uinta Brewing in several ways.  The Uinta family prides itself on its sense of direction and focus on brewing quality, consistent beers.  Additionally, as its beer names portray, Uinta appreciates the great outdoors that surround them in Utah and the entire Intermountain West.  The compass speaks closely to the Uinta family’s sense of adventure and exploration, inside and outside of the brewery.  This can be seen in surveying Uinta’s wide-ranging beer-styles, including its new exploratory series, the elegantly crafted Crooked Line.

The tagline, “Earth, Wind and Beer”, will remain married to Uinta’s logo, as it speaks directly to the responsible business practices with which Uinta is genuinely concerned: sustainability, commitment to renewable energy, and of course, crafting great beer.

Uinta plans to roll out this new logo gradually, primarily due to the fact that it will be updating eighteen years worth of the previous brand-identity.  Stay tuned, and keep your eyes peeled for the new look!

Uinta Brewing Company

Uinta Brewing Company embarked upon its mission of brewing world class, full-flavored, craft-brewed beer in the winter of 1993 Many of Uinta’s beer names are inspired by Utah’s diverse landscapes or have historical significance.  Uinta has broadened its market and can be found in 22 states from coast-to-coast, and has even ventured to other countries around the world.  Uinta is committed to brewing world-class beer using the best practices and ingredients.  Since 2001 Uinta Brewing has used 100% wind-powered energy, becoming the first Utah business to reach this mark.

– Currently, 600 bbl bright tanks & 2 new 600 barrel fermenters are being installed
– A new mill is also being added. Taking capacity from 700 barrels to 900 barrels.
– Dogfish will package & distribute 34 different distinct beers in 2011.
– Black & Red was a fun surprise, draft only in limited markets.
– Hellhound On My Ale, the bluesy tribute to Robert Johnson will see larger distribution.  It’s a super hoppy imperial IPA w/ lemon.  No mention of when it’s released, but assumption is late May-June, 2011.  <Blogfish>

Projects may be chugging along but we are certainly not chugging the corporate-world koolaide that a brewery should focus only on a few flagship products. We don’t make ‘products’ we make beer. Beautiful, diverse beers. And we will package and distribute over 34 of these distinct beers this year. Not all of them will appeal to everyone. And that’s a beautiful thing because beauty is in the eye of the beer holder not in the pocketbook of the brewery with the largest advertising budget. The consumer has spoken and the consumer demands choice. So we are responding to that hell-yeah with a couple hell-yeahs of our own…

Japan Beer Production Falls

Beer is the last thing Japan needs to be worrying about right now. However beer, like car manufacturing bears economic importance.  Total shipments of beer in March 2011 fell 10.9%.   Breweries like Asahi, Kirin, & Kiuchi (Hitachino) have had to deal with power outages, material shortages, & brewery damage.   Kiuchi actually stopped brewing altogether for a while in order to produce water for the victims.  They have slowly started to brew again.

Overall, 10.9% decline pushes total production down to 33.34 million cases.  Consumer confidence is down too.  Consumption is down after the quake.  As is a worry of radiation.  Kiuchi Brewing has performed it’s own independent research and found negligible radiation findings. <MainichiDailyNews>
