Catawba Peanut Butter Jelly Time is like drinking a piece of your childhood. If you haven’t tried this beer, mark your calendars for March 1st.
Brewed with raspberries and aged on peanuts, this beer should take you back to a simpler time. Before bills, acne breakouts, and hangovers. (That last one depends on how much of this nostalgia you take part in…)
Does it taste like a sandwich? Pretty much. Brewing with peanut butter and the sugar blob that is jelly isn’t the greatest of ideas. The base beer is a roasty brown ale, aged for weeks on fresh raspberries and peanuts. What makes this beer even more fun to drink, is the arc of flavor you get as it warms. Colder, this beer tastes like peanut butter. Warmer, more sticky jelly notes appear. Because Peanut Butter Jelly Time is a brown ale instead of a stout, it really is a smooth, childhood reminiscent, comfort beer.
When your mom packed a PB&J sandwich in your school lunchbox, the flavors all melded into pure comfort food by noon. Well, we recreated this childhood goodness in a beer! This light brown ale is brewed from five different grains and then aged for weeks on raspberries and roasted peanuts. Take a sip, let flavors mingle on your palate, and enjoy our PB&J in a glass.
New for 2019, the brewery is canning a Strawberry Rhubarb variant available in the taproom, as well as new, draft only, Black Currant edition.
Catawba Peanut Butter Jelly Time! is available in 16-ounce cans in the tap room starting March 1st, hitting distribution shortly after.
