A New Bourbon Barrel Beer from Brooklyn

Brooklyn Hand & Seal bottle

A new bourbon barrel ale is coming from Brooklyn Brewery (Brooklyn, NY). Brooklyn Hand & Seal is a barleywine and an homage to exclusive British drinking styles. Hand & Seal is aged in bourbon oak casks and re-fermented in the bottle. Something the brewery loves to do.

In the 20th year of his reign, our Brewmaster brought forth a new wonderment for the people. Barleywine-style ale, an old and once exclusive drink of the British nobility, would be produced anew in Brooklyn. The Brooklyn brewing team toiled to create a complex liquid with the rich flavors of floor malted barley shining through layers of vanilla, coconut and floral notes provided by aging in casks of bourbon oak, culminating in 100% bottle refermentation.
“Our hand, and our seal, is our promise to you of the deliciousness within.”

Hand & Seal is a reference to English & French legal document signing in the 18th century. The “hand” was either the hand or thumb dipped in wax and applied to the document by the signer. The seal, is the seal of the organization it was written under.
