When it comes to liquor laws, Utah is one of the odd ball states. In a state where bartenders have to mix drinks behind curtains, and mini-kegs are illegal, here’s another curveball for you. A ban on beer at Oktoberfest.
The state liquor commission has not (a probably will not) give the green light for a weekend permits to server beer at Snowbird Ski Resorts fest season later this year. Apparently these permits are “better used for non-profits.” Permits to serve beer for profit are frowned upon by the commission.
The resort’s Oktoberfest has been held for the past 40 years and draws more than 50,000 people each year. A beer ban would essentially kill it.
