The founders of the website The Chive will soon have four beers in their repertoire.

Joining KCCO Black Lager will be a wheat offering. A little while back, Beer Street Journal had a few beers with John, co-founder of The Chive. His intention then was to start contract brewing his recipes, and eventually build a brewery.

KCCO’s beers are brewed at Redhook under the name Resignation Brewery.

Soon there will be four beers in the lineup:

KCCO Black Lager – 5.1% ABV (1st Release)

KCCO Gold Lager – 5.1% ABV (2nd Release)

KCCO White White – 5% ABV (Coming Soon)

Mother Earth “Raspberries” Returns

Mother Earth Brewing (Kinston, NC) is re-releasing Raspberry from the Windowpanes Series. Each of the four beers in the series features North Carolina grown fruit, aged in various barrels. Raspberry is the fourth release in the series.  Mother Earth took a wheat beer and aged in both chardonnay and pinot noir barrels with of course – raspberries.

Uncork a bottle of Raspberry Window Pane and savor the fresh flavors of North Carolina. Fourth in a series of four North Carolina inspired beers, Raspberry Window Pane is a double American Wheat beer fermented with vast quantities of this treasured North Carolina fruit, then aged in pinot noir and chardonnay barrels for three months.   Anticipate a prevailing aroma of berry, blended with spice, vanilla and oak: and a dominate berry flavor joined by a slight oak character and sourness.

Style: Witbier (w/ Raspberries. Wine Aged. Pinot Noir & Chardonnay Barrels)
Availability: 750 ml Bottles, Corked & Caged
Arrival: 2/8/14

8.3% ABV

Sam Adams New Year Release is Ironic

While you’re reading this, Boston (and the northeast) is getting dumped on. That’s what makes the brewery’s new seasonal Cold Snap so ironic. It’s their spring seasonal.

Cold Snap is Belgian-style witbier that is replacing the previous seasonal, Alpine Spring.  If you think about it, having a spring seasonal (that is done in March) called Cold Snap is pretty perfect. The name doesn’t make it seem completely ridiculous to drink in 2 feet of snow, or when it’s just warm enough to think winter is over. Marketing at its best.

This white ale is brewed with German noble hops (Tettnanger) and copious amounts of wheat. Sam Adams Cold Snap joins the 12oz can lineup, alongside 12oz bottles and draft.

Style: Witbier
Availability: 12oz Bottles, 12 oz Cans, Draft.  Jan-March

5.3% ABV
