Avery Ill Dolia: The Most Rare & Expensive Barrels, July 12th

Avery Ill Dolia is #29 in the brewery’s coveted barrel aged series. This release breaks the bank, as the brewery filled the rarest and most expensive barrels they have in their arsenal.

Avery Ill Dolia is an American wild ale, 44% aged in Madeira, 31% in Cabernet Sauvignon, and 25% Carcavelos barrels.

No. 29 is a Byzantine and beautiful blend from the rarest and most expensive barrels we’ve ever filled. And worth every damn penny.

Avery Ill Dolia was bottled in May, 2015. The beer will release on Sunday, July 12th.

Avery Fortuna (No. 28) was just recently released.

Green Flash Natura Morta Plum Releases July 12th

Green Flash Natura Morta Plum is the third entry into the brewery’s new “Cellar 3” program. Recently, the brewery opened a new barrel aged location/warehouse/tap room dubbed ‘Cellar 3’, from which beers like Flanders Drive and Silva Stout are a part.

Green Flash Natura Morta Plum is a saison fermented in oak foudres, then aged in red wine barrels with an Italian plum puree.

The result is a delicate balance of tart plum, rosewater and almond notes with a sophisticated, dry finish.

This limited release arrives July 12th, 2015 in 750ml, corked and caged bottles. A special release party is planned at the Cellar 3 facility in San Diego, California.

Hangar 24 First Crush, a sour ale with Syrah grape juice, aged in red wine barrels goes on sale June 27th.

To create Hangar 24 First Crush, the brewery blend their stock of Syrah wine barrels that contain sour red ale. The mix of 18 month old barrels, plus the grape juice addition give the beer a unique character.

…the addition of Syrah grape juice after primary fermentation adds vinous, tannic notes of red wine, ripe fruit and leather.

Hangar 24 First Crush is available in 750ml bottles, when the brewery opens on June 27th. $20 per bottle, no limit. Releasing alongside another sour, Sanquinello.

Great Divide 21st Anniversary Sour Ale Debuts This Weekend

Great Divide 21st Anniversary beer is a departure from the previous birthday releases.

If you’ve been following Great Divide’s Anniversary Series, you’ve seen oak aged imperial IPAs, a strong ale with birch syrup, and a Belgian-style ale with grape juice. This year, the brewery is releasing a sour ale, aged in red wine barrels.

This American sour is a celebration of 21 years of brewing with Bold Character. This commemorative release opens up with a bright, tart, kiwi and citrus notes before mellowing out with a hint of oak and subtle white wine-like character. Soured with lactobacillus and brettanomyces and aged for 9 months in wine barrels, 21st Anniversary  is notably complex while retaining a delicate approachability.

Great Divide 21st Anniversary debuts on June 13th, at Great Divide’s second location in Denver on Brighton Boulevard.

Allagash Little Sal Hits Tap Room

Allagash Little Sal the brewery’s first beer brewed with brewed with blueberries was released in the brewery’s Portland, Maine taproom.

Little Sal is a sour, red beer, aged on two pounds of blueberries per gallon for six months in a red wine barrel. The finished beer is dark violet in color, with earthy aromas of blueberry and oak, and juicy, tart flavors of blueberry.

Allagash Little Sal is available in 375ml bottles, in the brewery’s tap room. No distribution for this offering.
