Flossmoor Station Brewing Company was founded 15 years ago by Dean & Caroline Armstrong in Flossmoor, Illinois. A historic train station in Flossmoor needed renovation, & to house a brewery was the perfect solution. (Thus, Flossmoor Station.) 2011 marks the brewery’s 15th year of operation by the couple. (Who ironically never owned a brewery or restaurant before owning the brewery. 15th Anniversary is being brewed this week, using yeast cells they propagated at Flossmoor from their new beer “Le Chien Blanc Wit” they will be tapping at the end of the month.
Label:
Celebrating our 15th anniversary this July 8th, 2011, we brewed this special Belgian inspired tripel to commemorate the occasion. This golden ale exuberates a nose of earthy spices mixed with a bouquet of fruity aromas. A malty body that finishes slightly dry is backed by a substantial 15% ABV, which is to celebrate our 15 years of dedication and devotion to harnessing the wonder that is beer. — Head Brewer, Nick Barron

Brunehaut is best know for their St. Martin line of Abbey beers. These beers are the ones making the debut. St. Martin brand lineup:
Blonde — Belgian Strong Pale, 7%. Bananas, citrus, candi sugar, spicy & complex
Dark — Dubbel, 8%. Dark fruits, roasted malts, chocolate & molasses.
Triple — 9%. Strong carbonation, bready, w/ hint of Belgian yeast. Light fruits.
Cuvee de Noel — Belgian Strong Dark, 8.5%. Seasonal release, winter. Coming soon.
The brewery has 2 other lines of beers – Brunehaut, & a regional series. Only the St. Martin lineup makes it stateside (according to Abbey representative.)
Tonight at Ormsby’s, Marc-Antoine De Mees of Brunehaut will host a special launch event at 7pm. Tickets are $20, which includes all three launch beers, and appetizers. Call Ormsby’s for tickets.

Personal opinion. Stillwater Artisanal Ales is a big up and comer. Especially when it comes to Belgian style ale in the United States, and there isn’t even a physical brewery yet. The 4th beer in Stillwater’s import series arrives this summer. The beer was brewed on location at Huisbrouwerij Sint Canarus in Deinze-Gottem, Belgium just like Saison Darkly. The brewer has 3 dark ales and 1 tripel in their lineup. Quoting Brian Stillwater about Rule Of Thirds:
Brewed at Sint Canarus and is a hoppy triple. 3 fermentables, 3 hops, 3 yeasts
Short & sweet & to the point.
Style: Tripel
Arrival: Summer, 2011
Bell’s Brewing’s 750 ml bombers exist. Well, at least 1,200 of them. A label has recently surfaced disclosing that there are just a very few Sparkling Ale bombers. Sparkling is a specialty release by the brewery – basically on a whim. It’s been well over a year since this tripel has made an appearance.
Sparkling Ale combines notes of cloves, honey and dried fruits from a blend of two Abbey-style yeast strains with citrusy hops from the Pacific Northwest to offer a heady, fragrant mix.
The label mentions the these specialty 750’s are individually numbered, 1-1,200. Bottled February, 2011. Larry Bell hasn’t disclosed what these bottles are for. I’m sure we’ll find out soon.
A few months ago I mentioned that Heavy Seas Brewing was having a little yeast issue when it came to Yule Tide. Yule is a Belgian style tripel, released around Christmas seasonally. Yule Tide was not released last year.
After speaking with Heavy Seas founder Hugh Sisson, he was happy to report that the yeast finally cooperated, and Yule Tide was produced. The plan it to release a 1 year vintage of Yule Tide this winter in addition to the 2011 vintage. Instant vertical!
About Yule Tide:
Slightly sweet with a complex malty flavor. The spicy flavor comes from our unique blend of Trappist yeast and Belgian candi sugar – making it both aromatic and flavorful. It will benefit with aging up to two years.
Arrival: November, 2011
In addition to the regular edition of Tripel Overhead by Mother Earth Brewing (Kinston, NC), the brewery has an annual release of Bourbon Barrel Tripel Overhead.
The flavors of Belgian-style tripel keep rollin’ in: filling your mouth with perfect peeling waves of unexpected pleasure. Respectfully aged in seasoned bourbon barrels. This beer offers you an amazing zest, balanced with flavors of warming oak. The result? A complex sipping beer that finishes smooth and sweet, giving you a glide you won’t soon forget.
Style: Tripel (Barrel Aged)
Availability: 750 ml bottles, corked & caged.
