Tröegs Scratch Redux Contest [VIDEO]
Today Tröegs Brewing Company finally revealed what’s hiding in their secret vault with this awesome video. In conjunction, Tröegs will be rebrewing one of their previous Scratch beers and is letting the fans decide which one. Head over to their Facebook page and vote for your favorite!
“Our rationale for selecting the Scratch beers was this: 1. focus on older Scratch beers that many people may not have had the opportunity to try; and 2. stray from Scratch beers we produce every year (ie: Oktoberfest, Fresh Hop, Naked Elf, etc.).”

Tröegs has yet another scratch beer on its way. Scratch 89 Irish Red Ale is the first traditional Irish Red Tröegs has ever produced. They will be launching it mid-March just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. Tröegs says we should expect to see the scratch series picking up production again as Nugget Nectar season winds down.

Troeg’s First Infuz-o-Matic Creation – Scratch 88
The first beer to be infused using Tröeg’s Brewing’s (Hershey, PA) “Infüz-O-Matic” will be Scratch #88. Slated to launch just in time for Valentine’s Day, this stout will be infused with 4lbs of cocoa nibs, 2 lbs of cocoa posder, 30 vanilla beans and copious amounts of hops per barrel.

Troegs Launches First Barrel Aged Scratch Beer [PICS]
Today, Troegs Brewing (Hershey, PA) tapped their first ever bourbon barrel aged scratch beer. Scratch #87 is a bourbon barrel aged version of their Troegenator aged 5 months in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. According to Troegs:
…was kind of an experiment. We hadn’t done a scratch with bourbon barrels before and wanted to see how it would turn out with an already big beer like our Troegenator. We wanted this to be part of our Splinter Series, but the yield was so small that it just wasn’t an option”
According to John Trogner, the beer tastes neither like a bourbon barrel aged beer nor Troegenator itself. “It’s taken on a taste all its own.” Scratch #87 is available right now on tap only with no bottles and no growler fills.

Troegs Drops Scratch #84 & #85 on 12/20
The end of the world is coming and Tröegs Brewing Company will be celebrating with a dual Scratch release on December 20th. The first will be Scratch #84 Belgian Pale Ale dry hopped with Amarillo and Mt. Hood hops. The second will be Scratch #85 Cocoa Porter brewed with 3lbs of cocoa powder per barrel. Both beers will be available starting at 11am draft only (sorry out of towners) but will be available for growler fills.
“The Scratch Beer series has developed into an experimental beer series where we can tinker with new techniques and brew with non-traditional ingredients. Each batch is extremely small and cases and growler fills are only available in our tasting room.”
