Now, it also means the welcome jolt of joy you’ll experience upon your first sip of this session saison. Bracing but benign, this Reigian.styie ale enlivens any experience with a spicy, aromatic start, citrus snap and fresh finish. Swing into spring with taste!

Backlash Ships Second Apocalypse Beer “War”

Backlash Beer Company has shipped the second installment in their Apocalypse Beer Series – War. War is the second horseman of the Apocalypse, and the follow up to Conquest.

In the spirit of the horseman, I wanted to infuse this beer with an element of conflict.  To get there, I pitted 3 yeast strains against one another in primary fermentation, 2 Belgian ale strains and a farmhouse strain.  The result?  It’s pretty safe to say that the farmhouse strain dominates the flavor profile.

(Which, by the way makes damn good beer.) Saison Rev is part of an emerging series by the North Carolina brewery – A Tale of  Two Barrels.

A humble, earthy Saison fights for recognition in a world of imperials. Eschewing the bourbon barrel establishment, Saison Revolution  reaches toward a new future through aging in local apple brandy barrels with ardent cherries. Is it the time for the rise of a new class of barrels?

21st Amendment Sneak Attack Saison

A new seasonal on the horizon for 21st Amendment Brewery (San Francisco, CA) – Sneak Attack Saison. Note the drunk Washington crossing the Delaware references in the label. The first thing that strikes me about Sneak Attack is how few saison/farmhouse ales there are on the American beer market in cans.  Brewery Vivant, Surly Brewing, and Hillard’s (Seattle, WA) immediately come to mind.
