Evil Twin Releases NomadER Wit

nomader_wit_label_ver2

On shelves now is Evil Twin’s NomadER Wit. A place on their “gypsy ” brewer status.

Some people we know – they write about beers and they have called those of us at Evil Twin Brewing “nomads”. Other people we know – they built a hotel and a restaurant, and their neighborhood didn’t really have a name, so they called that “NoMad”. And how interesting that both nomads in NoMad enjoy a Brett-feremnted wit beer with notes of coriander and orange peel. So, no matter what – hit the road or hunker down… this beer was made nice, just for you.

Style: Witbier (w/ Orange Peel, Coriander)
Availability: 22oz bombers
Arrival: August, 2013

Award Winning Gluten Free Recipe Sold

Celia & Ipswich_0

The Alchemist (Woodbury, VT) may be one of the few breweries in the U.S. to have gained so much fame with one beer. Every since severe flooding destroyed John Kimmich’s brewpub, highly touted Heady Topper is the only and only beer produced at the the Alchemist canning facility.

Heady Topper isn’t The Alchemist’s only beer though of course. Kimmich’s wife and brewing partner Jen, was diagnosed with celiac disease a few years ago. (Makes gluten the enemy of your digestive system.) There’s a way around that in brewing, that’s using grain without evil gluten. That’s the inspiration for Celia Saison, brewed with sorghum. A gold medal winning gluten free saison.

Ipswich Brewery recently created a commercial batch of Celia Saison on John’s behalf. Now, he has sold the recipe to Ipswich, and will now officially be an Ipswich product.

The artwork will be the same, but now with the Ipswich logo. Look for 4 packs of this brew in Ipswich markets. Gluten free drinkers, this is great news.

Style: Saison (w/ Orange Peels, Gluten Free)
Availability: 12oz bottles

More on Cigar City & Widmer Bros Gentlemen’s Club

Tomorrow, June 13, will be the official launch party of the Cigar City and Widmer Brothers collaboration Gentlemen’s Club. Inspired by the Old Fashioned cocktail recipe and the Gentlemen’s Clubs where the cocktail was first served over 100 years ago, Gentlemen’s Club is a twist on an Old Ale Recipe. This brew features cherries and oranges, Alchemy, Sorachi Ace and Pacifica hops, and hand-selected specialty malts to try and emulate the flavors of the Old Fashioned cocktail. Then, the beer was aged on three different woods: bourbon barrels, rye whiskey barrels and new oak spirals, creating three unique versions of the beer.

Looking for a bottle? The first will be released during a special party at Widmer Brothers Pub during Portland Beer Week on June 13th starting at 5pm. After that, special releases from both breweries will also be available on draft. Bottles of Gentlemen’s Club will be available at the Widmer Brothers store starting at 5pm June 13, 2013.
