Headed for Heavy Seas Brewing’s Mutiny Fleet next year is AARSH Red Ale. As you can probably figure out now, the beer is an Irish red, full of hops & flavor.

NEW RELEASE: Heavy Seas “Great’er Pumpkin”
Leave it to Hugh Sisson and his talented and creative team of brewers to keep pushing forward. The Mutiny Fleet bomber series is very popular, and the newest release is sure to follow suit. The Great’er Pumpkin pushes the already popular Great Pumpkin release to a bigger and bolder level by aging the beer in bourbon barrels. A pumpkin beer in bourbon! I got to taste it last year at Brick Store Pub with Hugh Sisson and I was nothing short of impressed.

The Mutiny Fleet was “berthed” by Heavy Seas brewers who were discovered secretlybrewing small batches of big beers to amuse the palates of their fellow crew. Since most secrets are best kept bottled up, we’re bringing you these big flavor extrAARGHdinary brew in 22oz bombers. From the haunted wood emerges the Great’er Pumpkin of them all!
Taste Expectations: Vanilla! The bourbon barrel aging really shines through. Pumpkin and spice is subtle and intact. Pumpkin & bourbon go well together.
Availability: 22oz Bombers. Rare draft offerings. Fewer than 500 cases and less than 100 barrels produced. Fall Seasonal.

SEASONAL RETURN: Heavy Seas Great Pumpkin
Returning for a second season in the mutiny fleet is Heavy Seas Great Pumpkin! All I need now is Charlie Brown.
Commercial Description:
The secret is in the 2.5 pounds of spice per barrel for this fall brew. We add the pumpkin during the mash at precisely the right time to create just the perfect balance of malt, hops, pumpkin and spice.
Taste Expectations: Lot’s of pumpkin flavor, followed by spices. Cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, allspice. Smells sweet, and has sweet notes in the brew. Slight alcohol in finish.
Availability: 22 oz Bombers. Draft. 500 cases total produced. Less than 100 kegs available. Seasonal.

SEASONAL RETURN: Heavy Seas Prosit!
It’s that time of year for fall lagers to start heading our way. Pumpkin beers are shipping ,and now marzens. The first of a few of these fall styles returns for a second visit from Heavy Seas and that’s “Prosit!”
Prosit! is an imperial version of an oktoberfest lager style brew. It’s a member of Heavy Sea’s “Mutiny Fleet”, the small batch bomber series released throughout the year. Heavy Seas describes –
“Malt focused, made with five types of grain including Vienna and Munich malts — plus a secret extra malt that we use only in our Prosit! Consider this bomber to be the burly big brother to our Clipper City MarzHon, a three year in a row winner at the Great American Beer Festival. We’ve balanced the sweetness of the malt with three kinds of hops making this one of the boldest marzen style lagers you’ll ever try. 5 Kinds of Malt, 3 Kinds of Hops, estimated ABV 9% estimated IBU 25”
Malty indeed. This beer really gets you in a fall mood. If I only had lederhosen.
Style: Marzen/Oktoberfest
Taste Expectations: This is a malt forward for sure. Caramel, toffee with a some roast and bread malts. Maintains a lager body and mouthfeel so it’s not too heavy. Expect bolder lager beer if you haven’t strayed far from the macro lager path.

New in bottle – Heavy Seas – Yule Tide
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Heavy Sea’s mutiny fleet, here is the run down. Mutiny fleet is a series of 22 ounce bombers, brewed for a limited time in small batches, large on flavor, and often- alcohol. Previous releases include Big DIPA (Double IPA), Prosit! (Imperial Octoberfest), and Great Pumpkin (Imperial Pumpkin Ale.)
Next up, and in time for Christmas — Yule Tide. Yule Tide is Belgian Tripel Ale. Brewed with Trappist yeast (see previous posts about tripels & trappists) and Belgian candy sugar. Yule comes in at 10% ABV, which could definitely help you get through Christmas parties and family gatherings…

Tasting notes – I have had this on cask and bottle. It’s really enjoyable tripel with sweet hints on the palette and nice carbonation. The 10% can sneak by you.
