Hangar 24 Barrel Roll Falling Leaf is the newest addition to the brewery’s Barrel Roll Series, releasing on September 26th, 2015.
Hangar 24 Barrel Roll Falling Leaf starts as Gourdgeous Imperial Porter, that was sequestered to bourbon barrels after the 2014 release.
Each autumn we brew a fresh batch of Gourdgeous, an Imperial Porter which pays homage to our local pumpkin harvest. To create FALLING LEAF, we placed a small portion of last year’s Gourdgeous in barrels to age gracefully through another turn of the seasons. A year in our cellar has mellowed and sweetened the robust flavors of pumpkin pie spice, molasses, caramel and dark chocolate, while the single-use bourbon barrels we selected added bright layers of bourbon, oak and vanilla. Beneath these layers you’ll recognize the strong core of the base beer: 1,000 pounds of pumpkins grown just ½ a mile from our brewery. Falling Leaf is ready to drink now, or can be placed into your own cellar to continue aging gracefully.
Hangar 24 Barrel Roll Falling Leaf is a 750ml bottle offering. ONLINE sales only. Show up in person to pick up your bottles.
Hangar 24 Barrel Roll Pugachev Mocha drops on December 6th, 2014. This years release sounds like what beer geek dreams are made off. The brewery took a Russian Imperial stout, and aged in it a 25 year bourbon barrel with coffee, cocoa nibs. To smooth it all out, Hangar 24 added lactose too. Yeah, I’m drooling too.
Pugachev Mocha is a truly indulgent creation that brings together ingredients from some of our favorite local craftsmen. It began as a single barrel of our Pugachev’s Cobra, specially aged in a 25 year bourbon barrel for 14 months. Into this barrel went single-origin cacao nibs from Parliament Chocolate, and locally roasted coffee beans from Augie’s Coffee, both located here in Redlands. A head of lactose sugar tops Mocha off, adding body and sweetness for final layer of decadence.
There are less than 70 memberships left in the Barrel Roll program that guarantees you beers like this. Hangar 24 Pugachev Mocha will be available in limited 22oz bombers.
Hanger 24 Barrel Roll #5 is Chandelle, releasing on November 28th, 2014.
Chandelle is a sour blonde, aged for a year in white wine barrels with 850 pounds of Golden Sweet apricots.
The fulsome and earthy apricot aromas float on the bracingly sour base developed in the barrel, coming together in a wonderfully complex final beer. This is our first major sour release in over two years, and represents the first of many delicious beers that will be emerging from our new sour program in the coming months.
Hanger 24 Barrel Roll Chandelle will be available in 22oz bombers, debuting at 10 Am on Black Friday (November 28th.)
A new Barrel Roll springs forth today from Hangar 24 Craft Brewery (Redlands, CA). Hammerhead, an American-style barleywine (hoppier than the English versions) aged in rye whiskey and bourbon barrels. Each release in the series is named for a plane aerobatic maneuver. A hammerhead is when you climb straight vertical and essentially stall the plane so it is sitting still in the air (nose up).
In the end, the pilot makes the plane to tip over like it is hinged on one of it’s wingtips, and pointed straight down. (See image below.)
Spicy aromas spill from the glass: rich caramel, citrusy hops, bourbon and oak. Layered flavors of toffee, vanilla, brown sugar, spice and rye whiskey lead to a warm and slightly bitter finish. This is a strong ale, meant to be sipped, savored and enjoyed.
13.8% ABV, 83 IBU
Hangar 24 Brewing (Redlands, CA) will be pre-selling bottles of Pugachev’s Cobra today at 4 pm. Cobra is an Russian imperial stout, aged in bourbon barrels. The 3rd release in the brewery’s Barrel Roll Collection. What’s behind the name? Pugachev’s Cobra is a plane maneuver where the pilot lifts the nose of the plane nearly vertical, then back to attack position. Invented by Victor Pugachev. For this stout, Hangar 24 filled 250 bourbon barrels with the stout in March, 2011. It has been aging over 8 months. The beer is officially released this Saturday, 12/10.
Get ready for an assault on your senses with PUGACHEV’S COBRA, an intense Russian Imperial Stout. This rich, black beauty with a thick caramel head is bursting with aromas of chocolate, vanilla, oak, bourbon, licorice and dark fruits, while flavors of chocolate-covered plum, sweet malt, bourbon, and roasted coffee explode on your pallet. This is no ordinary beer; three different dark roasted malts and rich maple syrup are combined in a truly unique brewing process to create complexity and depth. Once fermented, it’s then aged for eight months in freshly emptied bourbon barrels. This powerful concoction is designed to be enjoyed now with friends or cellared to perfection and savored in the years to come.

Funny-sounding name…real serious beer. HUMPTY BUMP, the second release in our exclusive Barrel Roll Series, begins with a hand-crafted Belgian Strong Golden Ale that we brew with apple cider from the local Riley’s Los Rios Farms and caramelized sugar. This powerful brew is then aged for eight months in second-fill oak bourbon barrels with Brettanomyces to create a one-of-a-kind drinking experience. A complex bouquet of fruit, spice, honey, and vanilla, with a subtle “barnyard” aroma courtesy of the wild yeast. The yeast also imparts a unique funky counterpoint to the slightly sweet, apple flavors. This creamy, full-bodied bottle-conditioned ale will mature for up to five years–if you can wait that long.
